Think of something you purchased that you no longer use because it became outdated or obsolete. Upload a picture of the item in the discussion thread along with answers to the following questions:

You will be using the same organization or agency that you chose for Part I & II of your Capstone Project.

Primary Task Response: Within the Discussion Board area, respond to the following questions with your thoughts, ideas, and comments. This will be the foundation for future discussions by your classmates. Be substantive and clear, and use examples to reinforce your ideas.

Most DM dissertations are based on one or more foundational concepts and theories found in the management or leadership literature. Although your discoveries may result in new knowledge, the conclusions of your research can be connected to the body of scholarly management research. Review all of the theories (and research additional theories if needed) that were discussed in the course.( DISSERTATION TOPIC : WHAT HAPPENS TO TOXICS LEADERS ONCE THEY ARE REMOVED FROM AN ORGANIZATION.

• Identity      the leadership theory that forms (or is closest to) the basis of your      dissertation research interests. 
• Create and      attach a mind map showing the visual connection between the leadership      theory that you selected and your dissertation research interest.

For the music paper you must create 500 to 600 words of written text. You need to select a program on Youtube to watch. As a first step read an article about the type of music or dance you have chosen to watch. So if you pick Salsa for instance search the article for information about the instruments used, the choreography presented, the types of rhythm and sounds that are presented, the kinds of lyrics that are developed. Then pick a Youtube program that presents a major artist or artists doing a performance.  Since this is part of the international education component of the course you may not use American musicians or American based compositions i.e. no Japanese rock and roll for instance. Select a style of music that originated abroad i.e. classical music and composers that worked in Europe, opera created by European artists, Latin American music such as the lambada, the macarena, the salsa, the tango and the list goes on, traditional forms of Asian music such as Japanese music or Chinese music, or forms of African tribal music. As you watch the presentation select two of the songs that are performed. Tell me who created them, what the songs symbolize, what kinds of lyrics and instruments are used, what the songs sound like i.e. rhythm, tempo , pitch etc.  Some of these types of music are closely associated with dance or ballet. So if the music includes elements of either of those, briefly describe their impact on the production.Also briefly describe your aesthetic response to each piece of music. Whatever  you watch  electronically cite the program using MLA style.

Next, analyze the case and provide an overview of key points or discussions. An overview is not a detailed description or regurgitated statements from the case, but instead key points in the case. Then, make 2 recommendations for improvements for any parts of the case (think like an HR leader). Saying that someone should have did this, or what you would have done are not considered improvements.

Discussion 1

Prior to beginning work on this discussion, please read the articles Who Needs Budgets?, Traditional Budgeting vs. Beyond Budgeting (Links to an external site.) in the Financial Planning page of the CFO Edge website, and Traditional Budgeting Versus Beyond Budgeting: A Literature Review (Links to an external site.).

In the words of GE’s legendary ex-CEO Jack Welch, Jack Welch, “The budgeting process at most companies has to be the most ineffective practice in management. It sucks the energy, time, fun, and big dreams out of an organization (…) [and] brings out the most unproductive behaviors (…)” (Welch & Welch, 2005, p. 189).

Some argue that the purposes of budgeting can be achieved without the conventional budgeting process. These companies espouse an idea called beyond budgeting that proposes to replace annual budgets with rolling forecasts of key performance indicators (Hope & Fraser, 2003). Others disagree, pointing out that the work of continuous planning is costlier than budgeting and that doing something continuously tends to make the process superficial.

So, the jury is still out. But so far, GE still prepares budgets! Discuss in an initial post of 200 words whether the controversial concept of beyond budgeting is a better approach for financial planning and analysis (FP&A) than traditional budgeting.

Prior to beginning work on this discussion, please read the Budget of the United States Government (Links to an external site.).

Congress is responsible for creating the federal government’s annual budget. For agencies and their programs to be funded, Congressional authorization committees must pass, and the President must sign, all 12 authorization bills by September 30—the last day of the current fiscal year—so the country can have a new budget in time for the start of the next fiscal year (USA.gov, n.d.).

Access the Government Publishing Office (Links to an external site.) to obtain Historical Budgetary Tables following the steps below:

• Click on the link to access the Budget of the United States Government (Links to an external site.)
• Click on the “Fiscal Year 2018” link
• Scroll down and select “Historical Tables”
• Obtain the .xls (Excel) file format of Table 1.1 and Table 1.2 to complete the two requirements below:
  • Table 1.2 shows the budget of Surpluses or Deficits (–) as Percentages of gross domestic product (GDP). Determine how many times since 1950 the budget has shown a surplus and how many times it has shown a deficit using the data in the Total column, “Surplus or Deficit.” Also, identify the 3 years with the highest deficits, and the year with the highest surplus as a as a percentage of GDP. What were the surplus and deficit percentages for these years?
  • Table 1.1 shows the budget Summary of Receipts, Outlays, and Surpluses or Deficits (–) from 1789–2022. Identify whether the highest deficits incurred in the identified years from Table 1.2 were paid with tax revenues (receipts) or borrowed funds (outlays). Discuss how the government gets money and where the government spends money on.
• Click on the “Fiscal Year 2018” link, scroll down and obtain the PDF file for “Major Savings and Reforms” to complete the last requirement. The Major Savings and Reforms volume describes major savings and reform proposals included in the 2018 President’s Budget.
  • Discuss major discretionary budget eliminations. Why is it important that government budgets accurately estimate future revenues during economic downturns?
