Topic: Health Policy

See this week’s two Learnscape topics and describe any of the course content you can use to make connections between the readings and the role you will play in the scenario. Human Services work is very rewarding for both the client and  professional. In order to ensure effectiveness, it is crucial that the  professional set the tone of a helping relationship from the beginning. This  includes setting the relationship intentions and maintaining healthy  boundaries. 

Part 1: Research

Conduct  some independent research. Using Rasmussen and other resources, locate an  article on maintaining healthy  relationships in Human Services.

Part 2: Reflect

For this assignment, you will use your critical thinking  skills and reflect upon building positive, helping relationships with clients.

In a minimum of two-pages (not counting the title page and  reference page) address the following:

• Discuss how to create  a positive, healthy helping relationship with a client.
• Distinguish between a  friendship and a helping relationship.
• Identify  characteristics of a helping relationship.
• Identify  personalization within the helping relationship.
• Include a strategy for  maintaining and/or ending the helping relationship.
• Discuss your strengths  and weaknesses and ways to improve helping skills.
• Explain what area of  the helping relationship you feel is most helpful for the client and specific  ways you plan to emphasize the area.
• Incorporate one (1)  credible resource to support your communication style. Cite source used. 

Use professional language including complete sentences and proper  grammar, spelling, and punctuation throughout your paper. Be sure to cite any  research sources in APA format.

Assignment Details

Review the Terminal Course Objectives, accessed by clicking on the Course Information tab at the top of your screen, scroll down to the “Course Objectives,” and then selecting “View Class Objectives.”

• How will accomplishing these objectives support your success in management?
• What risks or challenges might a health care manager encounter if he or she has not mastered these objectives? Explain.

Deliverable Length:  300-words

• Imagine your organization is in survival mode as it tries to ride out the economic downfall. The organization has adopted a strategy of 20 percent reduction in staff compensation in order to prevent layoffs. It is not plausible this strategy will retain top talent if it continues to be the company’s strategy. As an HR executive at the company, you have been asked to develop a pay-for-performance strategy. Address how you would approach this task and what you would propose.

1. In a concise paragraph, paraphrase what you have learned about labor relations to explain to a potential employer why studying labor relations will make you a stronger job candidate.
2. Interview workers, union officials, and managers who have been involved in a union organizing drive (or look in the newspaper or online). What issues were emphasized in the organizing drive? Are the issues examples of efficiency, equity, or voice?
3. Summarize the major facts about U.S. union density. Why has union density declined so sharply in the private sector? Is this good or bad?
4. As an employee, what kind of voice would you like on a job? Would this make you more productive? Should whether or not you are more productive be the only criterion for whether or not you should have this voice in the workplace? Answer all questions in a 3-4 pages in APA format with creditable references.

Compare and contrast the main requirements of the Stark Law and the Federal Anti-Kickback Statute. Next, analyze the main reasons why it is important for practice administrators to understand how these laws affect the operations of the medical practice. Support your analysis with at least one real-world example.

Case Assignment

For each Case question below, select three articles (published within the past five years), each from different peer-reviewed academic journals/magazines. [Utilize peer-reviewed academic journal/magazine publications you find through the Trident Online Library.] Find articles that specifically address the following questions regarding the impact of downsizing on the organization and its employees:

1. Why do firms downsize?
2. What are the consequences to a community when a firm downsizes?
3. Evaluate one example of an employer where downsizing was necessary and what its impact was on employees and business.

In your 5-page submission (not counting the cover page), briefly address the three questions about downsizing, then (in the same document) create a bibliography of the nine peer-reviewed academic journal articles that includes a properly formatted reference followed by not less than a half-page paragraph describing the article in your own words, repeating the process until all nine references are inserted and discussed.

Questions to address in your paragraphs include:
