It is very important that the hiring manager follow specific strategies because one it will ensure transparency. Following the recruitment process and informing candidates on the status of their application will make sure that the process will be a successful one. Consistency is another which I find very important. Anything that is not consistent will give inconsistent results. To avoid inconsistent outcomes a standardized process should be followed. Organizations will be more beneficial and will eliminate discrimination, this is another reason why it is improving follow through with the process. Discrimination is easily spotted through certain organizations. Preventing this will help the candidates trust the company and management and help them feel comfortable. The strategy I believe I the most effective is consistency. Consistency is one of the strongest abilities a person should have especially in management.

Ethics in Implementing Change

Issues that affect the human and social services profession and society often involve ethical considerations. For example, access to services may be dependent on meeting criteria that favor one group over another. Should this situation raise ethical concerns? If so, where do you find guidance on how to address the ethical issue? As an interdisciplinary field, many different codes of ethics may be applied to issues related to human services. Selecting the appropriate code depends on the nature of the issue, as well as on your position or role within human services. Along with the codes of ethics, Kitchener (1984) identified five core principles that can guide ethical decision making across disciplines. These core principles include autonomy, nonmaleficence, beneficence, justice, and fidelity. As a human and social services professional, you should keep these core principles in mind in your everyday work.

For this Discussion, you consider ethical concerns that may be associated with your Capstone Project issue.

Reference: Kitchener, K. S. (1984). Intuition, critical evaluation and ethical principles: The foundation for ethical decisions in counseling psychology. Counseling Psychologist, 12(3), 43–55.

To prepare:

  • Consider the Capstone Project topic you selected in Week 1. Think about any ethical considerations related to this issue.
  • Then, review professional codes of ethics that you have explored throughout your program (such as those from the National Organization for Human Services and others provided in this week’s Learning Resources), and consider their role in guiding the implementation of both professional and societal change.

With these thoughts in mind:

By Day 4

Post a brief description of the professional or societal issue you selected. Explain any ethical concerns that might be associated with the issue. Then, identify a professional code of ethics, and explain how it might be used to guide your action in addressing the issue. Be specific.

Be sure to support your postings and responses with specific references to the Learning Resources.

To me, change control is taking the proper steps to get an aspect or aspects of a project changed, without having to change the project completely, falling behind schedule, or discontinuing the project all together. It is needed because, there is no doubt that issues will come up. When these issues come up, change is needed. When changes happen on a project team, you have to get proper authorization in order for these changes to be made.

After the needs assessment has been completed, the next element of the strategic plan involves developing the strategic issues. Key tasks associated with the strategic issues include conducting a gap analysis, performing an environmental scan, and developing stakeholder surveys. The actions are performed so that you can conduct a SWOT analysis. SWOT stands for STRENGTHS, WEAKNESSES, OPPORTUNITIES, and THREATS. A SWOT analysis is used to help an agency, organization, or community better understand the business and environment in which it operates. The goal of developing strategic issues is to list or map out all of the strengths and weaknesses, and then to do the same for all of the opportunities and threats. This helps the organization to identify a strategy for planning. Opportunities that match the strengths are things that should be pursued. Threats that particularly align with weaknesses should be especially avoided when developing a strategic plan.
For this Assignment, you complete a SWOT analysis for your Capstone Project agency, organization, or community.

To prepare:

  • Review Final Project: Developing a Strategic Plan –S.W.O.T Analysis media in the Weekly Resources.
  • Consider the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and challenges related to your Capstone Project agency, organization, or community.
  • Think about the environmental factors you might review in preparation for addressing the strategic issues component for your Capstone Project. The environmental factors may include: political, economic, demographic, regulatory, philanthropic, donor trends, and other organizations providing similar services.

By Day 7

The Assignment (4–6 pages):

The difference between the two represents the gap, or the difference between where the organization is currently and where the organization would like to be. This gap could provide direction for the major focus of the strategic plan.
  2. Describe plans for conducting an environmental scan. The environmental scan is a process in which stakeholders gather and interpret relevant data on an agency, organization, or community to identify external opportunities and threats.
    1. Identify and describe internal conditions that might impact the implementation of the strategic plan.
    2. Address how you would minimize the impact of those conditions.

      2. Consider how you might plan to work with competitors to meet the needs of your targeted agency, organization, or community.

    1. State why each item on the list is a strength.
    2. State how you plan to utilize each strength to positively the impact the development or implementation of the strategic plan.
  4. Identify and describe at least three weaknesses of the agency, organization, or community.
    1. State what causes each item on the list to be a weakness.
    2. State how you plan to minimize the impact of the weakness.

    2. State how you plan to incorporate the opportunity in the implementation of the strategic plan.

Discussion Post

How much power should the courts have in affecting the relationship between employers and employees? This country was built on the philosophy of Laissez Faire…. leave them alone. Under that philosophy, we built railroads, skyscrapers and a vast industrial economy that has made us the envy of the industrial world. Entrepreneurs were able to get rich or go broke based on their own talent and luck, and workers could choose their professions and become successful by their own hard work.

On the other hand, entrepreneurs became fabulously wealthy on the backs on the workers. Miners were routinely killed in dangerous mining conditions so the owners could become even wealthier. There was a case in the 1920’s in which a young boy was required to work late at night cleaning machines. He spilled a little cleaning fluid, and it dripped on a mouse hiding under the machine. The mouse ran under a gas radiator. The flame of the radiator caused the mouse to catch on fire, and it ran under the machine which blew up due to the flammable fluid being used to clean. The boy was killed; The employer hired another boy to take his place. No, I didn’t make that up.

Under what circumstances, and to what degree, should the government be able to step in and dictate the relationship between an employer and employee?
