database design

write a one-page, proposal that addresses the following:

  1. A description of the problem domain (written using terminology that a user of the system would use; no need for technical database terminology.)
  2. Choose a domain with which you are familiar. Your domain should be different than examples provided in the textbook and in class.
  3. Identify a set of requirements for a system that is appropriate for your domain. If you wish, you may choose an appropriate sub-set of a larger domain.
  4. Your work should be original. Do not copy or download from the Internet. If you do search the Internet to get ideas, you must cite your sources in an APA-style reference page.

Computer and Number Systems

Computer and Number Systems

1.  You have been hired to develop a website-based sales system for a large international retail firm. List and describe at least four features that are specific to the Web design of your system and customer service important to consider if your system is to be successful at attracting and keeping customers living outside of the US. Include not only characteristics of the user interface, but those issues that must be uniquely addressed to successfully service your non-US customers.

2.  In order to receive credit for these problems, you must show all of the steps you took to arrive at your answers.

CPU and Memory

3. ASCII, Unicode, and EBCDIC are, of course, not the only numeric / character codes. The Sophomites from the planet Collegium use the rather strange code shown in the Figure below. There are only thirteen characters in the Sophomite alphabet, and each character uses a 5-bit code. In addition, there are four numeric digits, since the Sophomites use base 4 for their arithmetic. Given the following Sophomite sequence, what is the corresponding binary message being sent by the Sophomites?

4. Define memory cache write-through and write-back techniques and describe the advantages and disadvantages of each.

Input / Output

5. Answer the follow questions about interrupts.

The Galaxy Hotel

Application:

The Galaxy Hotel asks you to write a Windows application that computes the occupancy rate of the hotel. Occupancy rate is a percentage that is equal to the number of rooms sold divided by the total number of rooms available. The hotel has seven floors. The user should use an InputBox Function to respond to two questions about each floor: How many rooms are occupied on that floor? How many rooms on the floor are vacant? Display which floor you are asking about in each question. Display how many rooms are occupied and vacant on each floor in a ListBox object. After the user has entered all the information, display the following results: the total number of rooms at the hotel, the number of occupied rooms, and the number of vacant rooms. Also display the occupancy rate as a percentage, such as 61%. Non-numeric values should not be accepted. Do not accept negative numbers. Publish the application after testing the application.

requirements

1. At least one loop (since there are seven floors, which type of loop will you use?)

2. Validate no non-numeric data and/or negative numbers

3. Displays the following:

1. List box showing each floor occupied and vacant

2. Total rooms

3. Occupied rooms

4. Occupancy rate as a percentage

Week 10 Research Paper

Considering the importance of data in organization, it is absolutely essential to secure the data present in the database. What are the strategic and technical security measures for good database security? Be sure to discuss at least one security model to properly develop databases for organizational security. Create a diagram of a security model for your research paper.Your paper should meet the following requirements:

  • Be approximately four to six pages in length, not including the required cover page and reference page.
  • Follow APA7 guidelines. Your paper should include an introduction, a body with fully developed content, and a conclusion.
  • Support your answers with the readings from the course and at least two scholarly journal articles to support your positions, claims, and observations, in addition to your textbook. The UC Library is a great place to find resources.
  • Be clearly and well-written, concise, and logical, using excellent grammar and style techniques. You are being graded in part on the quality of your writing.

9. If models are simplifications or reality, why do we rely on them?

10. Why was this model, used by Amazon for hiring, wrong?

11. Why did Skynet declare war on the human race?

paper

For the submission describe/explain/answer the following:

  1. Describe in short standard ways to represent data, make selections, navigation patterns, and display quick alerts to the user.
  2. Explain the use of offline storage.
  3. What is GPS device Accelerometer used for?

GO19_AC_CH01_GRADER_1G_AS – Open Houses 1.0

 GO19_AC_CH01_GRADER_1G_AS – Open Houses 1.0

In this project, you will create database objects to track the open houses for the Health Professions departments at a college. You will create a table and import data from Excel to create a second table. You will use a database template to enter data into the Events table. You will create a simple query, a form, and a report.

Start   Access. Open the downloaded file named Student_Access_1G_Open_Houses_AS.accdb, enable the content, and then   close the Event List multiple-items form that automatically opened. Open the   Navigation Pane.

In Datasheet view, create a new   table. Beginning in the second column of the table and using the data type of   Short Text, create the Department Name, Contact Last Name, Contact First Name, Campus, Phone, and Department Email fields (in that order). In the eighth column,   using the Currency data type, create the Special Pay field.

Change the data type of the ID   field to Short Text, rename the ID field to Department ID.

Starting in the Department ID   field, add the following three records to the new table:

Save the table as Departments, and then close the table.

Append the records from the   downloaded Excel file a01G_Departments.xlsx   to the Departments table.

In the Navigation Pane, organize   the objects by Tables and Related Views. Open the Departments table (the   table has 14 records). Close the Navigation Pane.

Switch the Departments table to   Design view. Delete the Campus field. For the Department ID field, enter a   description of Enter one to five characters for the Department ID and then change the field size   to 5. Enter a description of Payment for   each open house event   for the Special Pay field. Save the table.

Switch to Datasheet view, apply   Best Fit to all of the fields in the table, save the table, and then close   the table.

Import the records from the   downloaded Excel file a01G__Rooms.xlsx   into the database as a new table named Rooms. Designate the first row as column headings and   the Room ID field as the primary key.

Open the Navigation Pane, open   the Rooms table in Datasheet view (the table has 10 records). Apply Best Fit   to all of the fields in the table, save the table, and then close the table.

Based on your Departments table,   use the Query Wizard to create a simple query. Add the Department Name,   Department Email, Phone, Contact Last Name, and Contact First Name fields (in   that order). Keep the default name of Departments   Query, click Finish to display the query results, and then close the   query.

Based on your Rooms table, use   the Form tool to create a form for the table. Save the form as Room Form, display the form in Form view,   and then close the form.

Based on your Departments table,   use the Report tool to create a report. Delete the Contact Last Name, Contact   First Name, and Special Pay fields from the report. Save the report as Departments   Report.

Sort the Department Name field   in ascending order. Set the width of the Phone and Department Email fields to   1.75 inches. Delete the page number   from the report, save the report, and then close the report.

Open the Event List form, and   then close the Navigation Pane. In the Event List multiple-items form, enter   the following record (the Start Time   and End Time data will reformat automatically):

Title: LPN   Open House   Start Time: 1/16/22 11a End Time: 1/16/22 12p Description: Program   Overview   Location: MW112

In the Event List form, click   New Event, and in the Event Details single-record form, enter the following   record (the Start Time and End Time data will reformat automatically):

Title:  HIT Open House Start Time: 1/16/22 2p
End Time: 1/16/22 3p Description: Scholarship Applications Location: MN110

Close the Event Details   single-record form. Close all database objects, open the Navigation Pane, and   then exit Access. Submit the database as directed.
