Since the beginning of medical practices, quality assurance has continued to change for the better through relevant standards of care that aid in the decision-making of ambiguous and mystifying health care practices and issues (Jochanan & Mark, 1998). Standardizing healthcare reduces people from doing their own thing, leading to unhealthy patterns and increased service costs. Recognized globally, health care standards aid in the sustainment of quality care, the development of medical platforms, and the assessment of essential topics/needs, leadership development, preventative medicine, and the management of treatment through federal and state governance (Health Standards Organization (HSO), 2020). Each category enhances a patient’s medical experience through their interactions with medical staff and personnel, ensuring excellent care and support.  Regulated health care standards establish/reinforces a healthy organizational structure that supports medical professionals, the public, and the creation of policies. Each entity is essential in reassuring the need for standardizing care across the board.

Jochanan and Mark (1998) define adequate health standards as implementing a settled agreement amongst a patient, a concerned medical professional, and a medical facility when providing, promoting, or implementing therapeutic intervention that is constant with existing standards of care. From my experience, I believe that the standards of care are adequate. However, I do think that a person who had a negative experience may think that standards of care are inadequate. The question of is standards of care adequate leads to a subjective discussion.
