” (IT IS REPLY TO A DISCUSSION-ONE PAGE ,THREE REFERENCES PLEASE”)……………..
The policy that I chose is H.R. 701 – Expressing support for policies that maintain a robust, fully funded, and staffed Veterans Health Administration of the Department of Veterans Affairs and do not jeopardize care for the Veterans by moving essential resources to the for-profit private sector. This policy was introduced to the house on November 14, 2019.
I chose this policy because our nation has a moral obligation to provide the best quality care to those who put their lives on the line to defend us. It includes caring for the hundreds and thousands of veterans with multiple amputations, loss of eyesight, or Post-traumatic stress disorder. I believe our veterans deserve the best healthcare in the world. That means minimal wait times and a technologically advanced Veterans Administration (VA). It means having the best physicians and health care personnel caring for them. It means having one entry point that is run by the VA and on-the-spot claim submission with far more reasonable timeliness for adjudication than today. It means assisting our veterans with alternative form of treatment.
The VA has been plagued with problems for years, it has been faced with reports of excessive and contradictory spending, allegations of inadequate healthcare, and massive backlog of benefits claims (Gordon, 2017). We are all aware of the scandal in 2014 where hundreds of veterans died while awaiting health care at VA hospitals. It should not be so for our veterans, I strongly believe that VA hospital and clinics should be fully funded to provide the best health care that the veterans deserve even though health care is fraught with a multitude of factors that are difficult to identify and control (Milstead & Short, 2019).
