Teaching Assignment  Rubric 

Teaching is essential in nursing.  This group assignment allows you to practice teaching among your peers and receive feedback.  You must have your topic for the teaching assignment approved by your clinical instructor in addition to a date to present during pre/post conference at clinical.  The following is a rubric to guide you in organizing your presentation.

·       10 minutes in length (10 pts) 

·       Prepared and organized (10 pts)

·      Topic- post partum depression. Knows topic, not just reading from notes (10 pts)

·       Utilizes appropriate scholarly resources and incorporates into teach: (30 pts) 

o   Current (within the past five years)

o   At least 2 resources should enhance the topic.  -Turn in Two resources and an outline of presentation by Tuesday January 2st 2025

o   Nurse/clinical focused

·       Visual aid (20 pts) 

• PowerPoint
• Pamphlet
• Poster
• Patient-teaching handout

·       Involves peers for an interactive teach (10 pts) 

·      Response to each presentation in the discussion board forum (10 pts)

77 and below

·       Less than 6 minutes in length

·       Not organized or prepared

·       No scholarly resources

·       No peer involvement

·       Student will be required to repeat teach (with a larger audience) and the 2 grades will be averaged

The purpose of this assignment is to explore ways a culture of patient safety is created using information and communication technologies and informatic processes that deliver safe nursing care while promoting health.

Use the “Culture of Patient Safety Case Studies” template to complete this assignment.

This assignment has indirect care experience requirements. The “Indirect Care Experience Hours” form, found in the Topic 3 Resources, will be used to document the indirect care experience hours completed in Topics 3, 4 and 5. As progress is made on this and subsequent assignments, update this form indicating the date(s) each section is completed. This form will be submitted in Topic 5.

While APA style is not required for the body of this assignment, solid academic writing is expected, and documentation of sources should be presented using APA formatting guidelines, which can be found in the APA Style Guide, located in the Student Success Center.

Use the Galen library database to find one primary qualitative research article on any nursing topic recently published this year in a nursing journal. Read the article and in one paragraph (7 to 8 sentences) provide a rapid critical appraisal by answering the following questions. Support your response by citing and referencing the research article.

1. What was the research design?
2. How were study participants chosen and was the sample size appropriate?
3. Does the research methods fit the purpose of the study? Explain.
4. Are data collection and analysis technniques approproiate for this type of study? Explain.
5. Is the phenomenon (human experience) clearly identified? Explain.
6. What are the reported results?
7. How may the results be applied in clinical practice?
