Female Patient Case

O.P. is a 43-year-old female patient who is seeing at the office because she is complaining of vaginal bleeding after sexual intercourse for about two months now.

She stated she has been married for 4 years now but has multiple sexual partners in the past. As positive history in her last cervical cancer screen (two years ago) she was positive for HPV type 16.

  • Discuss the appropriate diagnostic testing for the patient.
  • Develop the management plan (pharmacological and nonpharmacological).
  • Why is HPV the most important of the cervical cancer screening in patients that have tested HPV positive.
  •  According to the United States Preventive Service Taskforce (USPSTF) guidelines, what would be the cervical cancer screening recommendation for average risk women in the age range for O.P. and until what age women should be screened.

Once you received your case number; answer the specific question on the table above. Then, continue to discuss the 3 topics listed below for your case:

  1. An effective health assessment incorporates not only physiological parameters; please suggest other parameters that should be considered and included on health assessments to reach maximal health potential on individuals.
  2. Name the different family developmental stages and give examples of each one.
  3. Describe family structure and function and the relationship with health care.

Your initial post should be at least 500 words, formatted and cited in current APA style with support from at least 2 academic sources.

Find a published research study on a topic that you could use for your DNP project that used a correlation test and find this information from the study:

  • Give the purpose/objective/aim of the study exactly as it is written in the study.
    • What is the population in the study?
    • What are two sets of variables in the study tested by correlations?
    • What is the level of measurement for the variables (nominal, ordinal, interval, or ratio)? What type of variables are they (categorical or continuous)?
  • If a hypothesis was stated in the article for the correlations, give it here and label it as a Ho or Ha. Write the stated hypothesis as an equation. Write the other hypothesis (the Ho or Ha that was not given) in words and an equation. If a hypothesis was not stated, then restate the purpose/objective/aim as a null hypothesis in words and equation format. Do this for both a null and alternative hypothesis. Again, focus on only two sets of variables tested by correlations. Use the format in the handout attached to the announcement for this week.
  • What are the assumptions for correlations (cite the source where you find them)? Are they met in this study? Provide information given in the study that can be used to determine whether each assumption is or is not met. What information is not given?
  • What alpha level (level of significance) was used?
  • Give the r-statistics and p-values for the correlations you are using for this week.
    • Indicate whether the correlations are positive (direct) or negative (indirect)
    • Determine the strength of the correlations using Box 9-1, p. 156 in the Kim et al. (2022) textbook.
    • Do these results establish that one variable causes the other variable. Explain your answer.
  • Specifically state the p-value rule for the results of this study to determine whether to reject or fail to reject the null hypothesis.
  • Based on the decision made about the null hypothesis, what type of error is possible (Kim et al., 2022, pp. 131-132 and Table 7-3).
  • What are the usual causes of this type of error? Are any of them present in the methodology for this study?
  • The effect size for correlations is determined by the strength of the correlations (Kim et al., (2022, p. 134). Use your knowledge, critical thinking, and experience with your patients and setting, would you incorporate these findings into your practice? Is your evaluation of the clinical significance of the findings consistent with the statistical significance for the findings and the value of the correlations? Explain your rationale.

What to Submit

Your submission should include a 4- to 6-slide PowerPoint presentation with speaker notes and a 2- to 4-page Word document with your consolidated speaker notes. Nutrition & Chronic Diseases – Project Outline in project 6 / project7 3221

For this assignment, you will develop an OUTLINE of your PowerPoint project presentation. The topic for your presentation is The Role of Nutrition in Chronic Diseases. You may select one chronic disease you have learned in this course and describe how nutrition impacts the chronic disease you chose. The objective of this outline is to gather and organize your thoughts. A successful outline will provide a roadmap to developing your PowerPoint presentation. Your work MUST be original, and in the next module, you will develop and submit your PowerPoint presentation.

**Include a minimum of 5 references from academic sources or government websites published within the last five years. APA style in 1-2 pages in length, excluding the title and references

The Role of Nutrition and Chronic Diseases Part 2:

For this project, you will develop a PowerPoint where you will share The Role of Nutrition and Chronic Diseases. You may choose one chronic disease learned in this course. Your work MUST be original. Use the outline developed in the previous module to guide your project.

  • The presentation is original work and logically organized. Followed current APA format, including citation of references.
  • The PowerPoint presentation with 7-10 slides was clear and easy to read. Speaker notes expanded upon and clarified the content on the slides.
  • The presentation is creative and utilizes graphics.
  • The presentation is supported by evidence from the literature.

The powerPoint presentation should be formatted per APA and references should be current (published within the last five years)

Decision-Making on Procedure/Practice Modification 416

Share an example from your nursing practice setting of how a decision was made to change a procedure or practice.

  • What steps were used in the decision-making process?
  • What evidence was considered for decision-making?
  • Throughout the decision-making process, what research did you reference and present in order to support the proposed change?
  • Was the change effective?  Provide rationale.

Chronic Disease 3221

According to the Centers of Disease Control and Prevention (CDC, 2023), six out of ten adults in the United States have at least one chronic disease, and about four in ten have two or more chronic diseases. Chronic diseases include cardiovascular conditions, cancers, diabetes mellitus, and Alzheimer’s. Diet is a lifestyle factor that affects the development of many chronic conditions and even some neurological diseases.

After studying Module 6: Lecture Materials & Resources, read the case study and answer the following:

Lenora is a 57-year-old Jamaican American female who works as a desk clerk. Her job requires her to sit all day from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., then she drives for one hour to go home. She lives alone in a studio apartment. By the time she gets home, she is tired and barely has time to pick up some fast food. She was recently diagnosed with hypertension and diabetes type 2. She is 5’ 5” tall and weighs 180 pounds with a BMI of 30.1. Her blood pressure was 150/105 and her HbA1C of 7.5%. The healthcare team starts Lenora on atenolol (Tenormin) for her hypertension and metformin (Glucophage) for her diabetes.

  2. Provide at least two (2) risk factors that may contribute to Lenora’s development of hypertension (see Appendix J: Body Mass Index (BMI) of your textbook)
  3. Describe what is HbA1C and how is it used to monitor diabetes? (see Chapter 20, page 564 of your textbook).
  4. Discuss what dietary counseling will Lenora need to control her hypertension and diabetes? Provide at least two (2) examples.
