Explain.  How does the corporate culture impact vision, mission, and strategy at Zappos?

A strategic purpose for a well-blended compensation program, one that includes various types of direct compensation, is gaining employee commitment and productivity. One of the most effective tactics for this strategy is designing a process for linking individual achievement to organizational goals.

Prepare a report to senior leaders addressing the following:

  • Explain the concept of tying performance to organizational goals.
  • Describe the different types of individual and group-level performance measurements.
  • What are the advantages and disadvantages of individual versus group-level performance recognition?
  • Discuss the options an organization has to link individual or group monetary rewards to organizational success.

  • Select a company and identify its mission statement.  Using this week’s course readings, explain whether the company has  a good mission statement.  Discuss whether the company has a successful vision statement.  If so, is the vision statement a good vision according to the course materials?  Why or why not. 
  • Many organizations talk about how there is a need to develop a new strategy, but unfortunately do not clearly understand the difference between developing a strategy and establishing a new plan.  Using the course readings, clearly define the difference between a Strategy and a Plan.
  • Differentiate between Goals and Objectives and explain how managers use these to support the organizational plan.  Give examples.

Overview

As part of an orientation program for new managers, HR has developed a section of the orientation designed to help new managers learn more about HR’s functions and role in helping them become more effective in handling their HR responsibilities.

Using the course readings and articles, address the role of human resource management. Support your analysis with a minimum of three credible sources of research. (Keep in mind this document is meant for an orientation. The new managers may or may not have a strong understanding of the role of HR in health care.)

Write an informational, 2 pages handout that addresses the following:

  1. Determine the key roles that human resource management plays in today’s health care organizations.
  2. Evaluate three to five core functions of human resource management in terms of their level of support to a health care organization.
