Assessment 2

Write a 600–800 word white paper for a consulting company about the supply chain and distribution strategy of a manufacturing company, based on a library article.

• Questions to Consider

To deepen your understanding, you are encouraged to consider the questions below and discuss them with a fellow learner, a work associate, an interested friend, or a member of the business community

• Why is it important to consider uncertainty when evaluating supply chain design decisions?• What are the major sources of uncertainty that can affect global supply chain decisions? o Consider the financial, logistic, political, natural, cultural, and technological sources of uncertainty.• Assessment Instructions

For this assessment, consider that you work as a business analyst for a consulting firm that specializes in helping clients improve their operations and associated processes. Your manager asked you to write a white paper that they will use to demonstrate how your firm can help clients implement best practices in their supply chains and distribution channels, and you and your manager selected Dell as the subject of the white paper.

Dell has been selling computers for over 25 years with its unique, direct build-to-order sales model.

As part of your research into Dell’s supply chain and distribution strategy, you identified related articles in the Capella library (linked in the Resources under the Required Resources heading) that you decided to use to help you write your white paper. You and your manager decided your white paper should address the following points:

• Analyze why Dell’s supply chain strategy is successful.• Describe the main supply chain challenges that Dell is now facing and provide strategies to effectively overcome the challenges.• Analyze how Dell has changed its supply chain to satisfy its customers. As an example, was Dell’s decision to sell its products via retail outlets a viable solution? Do you agree with this distribution strategy? Why or why not?

Based on the intended audience, your report should be well organized and written in clear, succinct language. Target 600–800 words. Attributing sources in your professional and academic work supports your analysis and conclusions and demonstrates ethical behavior and academic honesty. Following APA rules for attributing sources provides consistency and ensures that readers can locate original sources if desired.

Academic Integrity and APA Formatting

As a reminder related to using APA rules to ensure academic honesty:

4. When using a direct quote (using exact or nearly exact wording), you must enclose the quoted wording in quotation marks, immediately followed by an in-text citation. The source must then be listed in your references page.5. When paraphrasing (using your own words to describe a non-original idea), the paraphrased idea must be immediately followed by an in-text citation and the source must be listed in your references page.•

Powerpoint presentation

Self-esteem in the work environment is crucial to the overall success of everyday business operations and functions for the employee and employer; therefore, it is important to identify healthy self-esteem development and how to overcome communication barriers.

Create a PowerPoint presentation (minimum of 10 slides) on how to overcome communication barriers—verbal and nonverbal (identify and explain with supported data and illustrations). You must use at least two sources with one being the textbook. Be sure to cite any sources used in a reference slide with proper APA formatting. The cover and reference slides do not count toward the total slide requirement. Also, use the speaker notes function to explain the content in detail for each of the slides.

Note: Keep in mind the 6×6 PowerPoint rule: slides should only include six to seven lines of content with no more than six to seven words per line. Also, illustrations should relate to the content being discussed—be creative.

Refer to the following tutorial from the Success Center on developing good PowerPoint presentations:

Stereotype Threat Articles

According to Steele (2010), there have been over 15 years of research in the area of stereotype threat. The Capella library holds over 44,000 entries with stereotype threat in the title. Refer to the journal articles you located in the Unit 8 study. Summarize the articles’ discussion of stereotype threat:

  • Describe the population that is experiencing stereotype threat.
  • Discuss the performance area of the stereotype threat (math, verbal, analytic, and IQ test performance, language, sports, and so on).
  • Summarize viewpoints or findings of the author (or authors) regarding stereotype threat.
    • Discuss any personal experience of stereotype threat you may have in this performance area.
  • Indicate whether you believe the disenfranchised racial, ethnic, religious, or cultural group you identified for your course project has ever experienced stereotype threat in this performance area.

Presentation

This week’s assignment contains an imaginary scenario in which you will demonstrate your knowledge of the concepts presented in this course.

Scenario:

Your friend, an 8th-grade earth science teacher at the local middle school, is organizing an Earth Day celebration for his students and their families. He knows you have recently been learning about environmental policies in this environmental science class and has asked you to be one of several guest speakers at the event. He would like you to explain to the students how scientific research and public awareness of an environmental issue led to an environmental policy or law. The goal is for the 8th-grade students to understand how people and communities (scientific community, government bodies, citizens of a country, etc.) can effect positive change for the environment.

Use the policy and issue you selected for your Wk 5 Discussion – Environmental Policies in Action.

Prepare a 3-to 4-minute video and/or audio recording, or a 1,050- to 1,750-word transcript of your presentation.

Address the following in your presentation:

  • Summarize the environmental issue. What are its causes? What are the effects on the environment and people? Consider multiple perspectives and locations, as applicable.
  • Explain how economics and/or personal lifestyle choices or behaviors are related to this issue.
  • Describe how individuals, communities, and/or governments have worked to address the issue.
  • Examine the impact of relevant legislation or initiatives. What are the benefits? Have there been any consequences?

Note: Remember your audience; the presentation needs to make sense and appeal to 13- and 14-year-old students.

Include at least 2 outside resources to support your conclusions.

Discussion 3B

To help public managers negotiate appropriate terms of their accountability with legislators and the wider public, it is useful for managers to have a basic framework in mind for understanding and guiding efforts to improve the accountability systems under which they labor. That analytic framework might also serve as a guide to the construction of the legitimacy and support perspective on their public value scorecard. What is the legitimacy and support perspective for Minnesota’s Department of Revenue? Discuss what you think works for the Minnesota Department of Revenue and what you think is missing from their approach. Use the Legitimacy and Support Perspective form in this module for reference.
