Week One Discussion Questions: Strategic Role of Human Resources (Oct 21 – 27, 2020)

Available until Tuesday, October 27, 2020 11:59 PM EDT Must post first.Subscribe

Instructions:

After reading the assigned material for the week, post your original response to the questions by 11:59 PM EST Saturday and your responses to your colleagues by 11:59 PM EST Tuesday.  You want to include a minimum of 2 references from the classroom for each question/response. In addition, make at least two value added responses to your classmates

Discussion One:  Describe, in your own words (but using the course material provided):

a) What internal and external factors have influenced the Human Resource Management function over the past ten years toward serving in the role of a strategic partner or leader in the organization?  Discuss some positive and negative contextual influences that will continue to impact the HR function from today forward.

b) Explain what it means to be an effective HR strategic business partner. Why is it important for HR to be involved in all aspects of the strategic planning process? Discuss one example of a human resource management strategy that supports an organizational strategy.

c) What factors could be holding HR professionals back from serving in the strategic HR role? Share some ideas or strategies for enabling HR to be more successful toward working in a strategic capacity.

Be sure to provide the references for the sources of the information you used to inform your comments including the material provided in the classroom.

Discussion Two:  Application: After reading the case study about the organization HSS in the module included in this course for this week, do the following:

Write a memo to the CEO of HSS in which you justify HR’s role in drafting a strategic plan. The report should be written using language the CEO will understand and can relate. The document should be complete enough to convince the CEO of the importance of the HR function being part of the strategic plan at HSS.

It is important for you to locate and include academic sources (at least two) that support the content in the memo. You must show the reader that what you assert is accepted practice at other companies or organizations. You may use a word document if you like or provide your proposal in the content of your response window.

Due Friday by 3 pm

Please follow the directions of the assignment, and only write what is relevant to the project. Also, please make sure your writing makes sense, it was hard to follow some of the student’s assignment. I will deduct points.

For this assignment you want to  reread the client case study presented on the Course  Project Introduction page located in Module  01. (A sample of the how to create a case note, about the Norris Family, and the treatment plan has been included, please be free to edit if needed.)

This week for your course project,  you will submit case notes from at least three “appointments” with  Denise Norris. Since this is a  hypothetical case study, you may take the liberty of creating the details of  these appointments. Refer back to the needs assessment you completed in  your intake and the treatment plan/goals you created. The case notes should be  aligned with the content of those sections and be a minimum of one page per  appointment.

Click here to review the Creating Case Notes in Human Services  PowerPoint that will provide a guide to the purpose and details of case notes.

As you are formulating your case  notes, consider asking yourself the following questions as a way to plan:

  • What details would need to be discussed at the first follow-up appointment after completing the intake? What areas were agreed  upon with Denise Norris in terms of each child as well as herself?
  • The second and future appointments should logically follow-up on what was discussed at the previous one. What has been completed and what still needs attention? Are there any new issues or complications that might influence progress?
  • As the appointments continue, the professional will build a helping relationship with Denise Norris that should be objectively documented in the case notes.
  • Each appointment should include recommendations for future progress and planned meeting times.

Remember the content of the case notes and direction of Denise Norris’s  case management is up to you and can be fabricated as you see fit. Keep in mind  the logical progression of the client and the reality of the needs being  addressed.

Please note that Human Services  organizations typically have their own forms related to how case notes should  be organized. For the purpose of this project, the format is not as significant  as the information contained in the case notes.

Answering Behavioral Questions

 Answering Behavioral Questions

There are many different types of job interviews. Interviews can vary by style, types of questions, and other factors. Many interviewers use behavioral interview questions to evaluate how you might contribute to the company’s culture as well as its success.

Instructions:

Choose one of the following behavioral interview questions and respond to it as you would during an interview:

  1. Tell me about a time when you had to work with others. What was the situation and how did you respond?
  2. Describe a time when you had to deal with others? Describe the scenario and how you handled the situation.
  3. Tell me about a time when you made a mistake. What was the situation and how did you respond?

In your response, include the following:

  • A detailed description of your response to the question asked in your selected situation/scenario.
  • A comprehensive list of the approaches you have or would use to respond to the questions asked in your situation/scenario.

In addition, describe the “selling points” you are trying to make in your response to the chosen question.

Please be sure to validate your opinions and ideas with citations and references in APA format.

Discussion

There are many stakeholders involved in health care policy issues, and they represent a wide variety of interests and perspectives. The health care industry employs many people. Though all stakeholders may share the goal of optimum individual and societal health and well-being, it is important to note that stakeholders’ financial interests may influence decision making.

For this Discussion, review this week’s resources. Consider the impact of health care policy’s evolution on Medicaid and Medicare programs. Then, think about a specific Medicaid policy in your state that should be amended, and reflect on how you would amend it and why. Finally, research the stakeholders involved in Medicaid and Medicare health care policy in your state and consider the role of these stakeholders in policy development for this issue.

Post an explanation of how the evolution of health care policy has influenced programs such as Medicaid and Medicare. Then, describe a specific Medicaid policy in your state that should be amended, and explain how you would amend it and why. Finally, describe the stakeholders involved in the Medicaid and Medicare health care policy in your state, and explain the role of these stakeholders in policy development for this issue.

Support your post with specific references to the resources. Be sure to provide full APA citations for your references.

Discussion: End-User Satisfaction of Health Information Systems

Review the article, “Clinical information systems end user satisfaction: The expectations and needs congruencies effects”, and discuss the following:

  1. The importance of understanding end-user needs in health information systems.
  2. Why is it important to understand end-user expectations when designing health information systems?
