Overview

As the HR manager for a large health care organization, you have been asked to design a new position for an individual contributor in a non-clinical department such as Billing, Admitting, HR. The job should be entry to mid-level and one appropriate for someone with a bachelor’s degree in health care administration.

1. Develop the job title and essential duties for the new position.
2. Write detailed job description suitable for listing on the organization’s website.

For this assignment, select a real company in the fast food industry. 

You have just been hired by (your selected company) as its new vice president of strategic planning. The corporation’s performance in recent years as well as the changes with business and economic conditions will be a central focus of your new job.

Given the size of the corporation and the fact that it is in a highly competitive industry, the chief executive officer (CEO) to whom you report has already given you permission to hire a staff of recent Master of Business Administration (MBA) graduates to assist you in your efforts. You recently completed the interviewing and hired four people with minimal real business experience.

In coming months, you and your team will be creating a completely new—and, presumably, more effective—strategic plan. You plan to begin by holding a kick-off meeting with your team.

Deliverable Length: 1,000–1,250 words

To feel confident that all of the employees in your strategic planning team understand all that you have taught them, you require each to prepare a streamlined version of the key elements of a strategic plan. You require each employee to prepare the following sections of a strategic plan for the corporation’s next 3-5 years:

• Mission and Vision Statements (Simply copying from an existing real company is unacceptable.)
• Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic, and Time-Bound (SMART) Goals and Objectives

In this assignment, you will create a decision tree for a business that is considering expanding to a new location. An important part of this analysis will be the details that you create for the business itself. Feel free to pick any industry that you are most familiar with, that will allow a multi-node approach.

• A one to two paragraph description of the business and its market. If you are using an actual business or industry, include links to references that explain the market. If you are using a fabricated business, your description should be more complete so as to explain the forces at play.

Before starting a research project it is imperative to recognize your discourse community. This will lead you to suitable places to conduct your research and will assist you in communicating with your audience in a language that they recognize and relate to.

To complete this assessment, consider the discourse communities or groups of people with whom you share common interests. Consider the individuals that discuss topics important to the group.

• List all learning and social discourse communities that you are member of.

Respond to the questions below in an essay that provides an analysis of your discourse communities.

• What topics of discussion, issues, problems, or concerns keep these communities together? What constitutes new knowledge for your group? Is it created experimentally, through discussion, or through a combination of these two and other methods?
