Step 1 – Read the Information Below

Motivation is the psychological process that arouses and directs behavior. There are three theories that will help us understand the motivation of employees in the workplace:

  • Goal-setting theory suggests behavior can be motivated with specific, challenging goals that are obtainable. The key to goal-setting theory is ensuring employees understand what is expected and accept the goals.
  • Self-efficacy is the belief in one’s personal ability to do a task. There is a lot to be said to scoring high in this trait. People who are confident about their ability tend to succeed, whereas those who doubt their ability tend to fail.
  • Reinforcement theory explains how behavior can be altered by administering positive or negative consequences to actions of employees. Behavior with positive consequences tends to be repeated, and behavior with negative consequences tends not to be repeated.

Strategic Planning

Do some research and write a 500-600-word summary (body content length) that discusses two different strategic planning concepts. Locate a minimum of two scholarly journal articles for each concept—a minimum of four articles for the paper altogether (these articles must be new to this assignment for this course). You want to select research that presents each concept and its usefulness in strategic planning within organizations. If you elect to write the paper, then keep your writing in third person if you discuss how these concepts work in your sector.

Reflection Paper- Human Resource Management

As an international manager, your effectiveness can be greatly influenced by your understanding of cultural differences and their impact on staff. Hofstede’s Model of National Culture and Project GLOBE (pp. 583–585 in your textbook) details dimensions that help managers identify cultural differences within countries.

Write a one-page reflection paper about how this research has increased your understanding of different cultures and how you would use this understanding if managing staff who would be taking on expatriate assignments.

If outside sources are used, please adhere to APA style when creating citations and references for this assignment. APA formatting, however, is not necessary.

In light of what is currently going on in our world with issues surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic, this can be a very eye-opening experience. In order to help others with end-of-life issues, consider your own experience with this topic. Do an Internet search on these terms: advance directive, living will, medical power of attorney, and end-of-life care. Write a reflection on doing the research. Include what you learn and also your personal thoughts and reaction.

P.R.I.C.E. Model Applications

Instructions

You are to select and interview a professional in your designated or related career field (faculty in your program of study may be a good place to start). You are to complete the interview in person or by phone. At the beginning of the interview, you will explain the P.R.I.C.E. elements to the interviewee and then ask these questions:

  • Have you seen the impact of applying these elements in your career?
  • Which element(s) is/are the most important in your career field?
  • In what situations are these elements the most challenging to utilize?
  • Would you add or subtract from this list of elements if you could?
  • Do you feel these elements are applicable for careers in this field in the future?

While you have been given the questions for the interviewee to answer, you still need to take some time to be prepared in advance of the interview.  Be sure to either take notes during the interview or ask permission and tape responses so you can remember what was said while completing the Unit 1 worksheet.

Be sure to download, complete, upload, and submit the Unit 1 worksheet.

8210-Assignment: Variables, Measurement, and SPSS

SPSS is a statistical software program that allows you to enter these variables into a spreadsheet format and record the measurements from a sample. Additionally, SPSS allows you to perform statistical analysis. Before launching into your analyses, though, it is important to understand how the variables are measured. That understanding will help you interpret the SPSS output.

In this week’s Discussion, you considered topics with social change implications. For this Assignment, you will examine data to analyze independent and dependent variables, determine how they are measured, and decipher whether a social change question can be answered and the implications for such change.

To prepare for this Assignment:

  • Review the Learning Resources as well as the SPSS resources found in this week’s Learning Resources.
  • Review, download, and install the SPSS software on your computer using the IBM SPSS Installation and Registration document for PC or for MAC in this week’s Learning Resources.
  • Using the SPSS software, open the Afrobarometer dataset or the High School Longitudinal Study dataset (whichever you choose) found in this week’s Learning Resources and then choose two variables that interest you.

For this Assignment:

Write a 1- to 2-page summary and include the following:

  • Early in your Assignment, when you relate which dataset you analyzed, please include the mean of the following variables. If you are using the Afrobarometer Dataset, report the mean of Q1 (Age). If you are using the HS Long Survey Dataset, report the mean of X1SES.
  • A description of what the each of the variables measure.
  • A description of the unit of analysis.
  • A description and explanation of the levels of measurement for each variable (i.e., nominal, ordinal, interval, ratio).
  • Explain how you might conceive these variables to be used to answer a social change question. What might be the implications for social change?

Support your summary using appropriate scholarly citations and references. Use proper APA format.
