For your assignment this week, you will design a diversity scorecard. The diversity scorecard enables an organization to measure the success of its D&I initiatives to the goals set forth by the diversity council.

Taking the diversity goals created by your diversity council in Week 6, please design a diversity scorecard. Be sure to include the following elements in your diversity scorecard:

  1. Provide a discussion of the D&I goals set forth by your diversity council.
  2. Determine who will own the diversity scorecard, and then explain why.
  3. Identify the audience for which this scorecard will target.
  4. Discuss the categories of the scorecard.
  5. Identify the metrics that will be used.
  6. Develop guidelines and procedures for collecting data.

Support your assignment with at least three scholarly or professional resources. In addition to these specified resources, other appropriate scholarly resources, including seminal articles, may be included.

Introduction

Within the last ten years, the health care industry has seen big change, not only in philosophy, but with the implementation of the Affordable Care Act. There have been changes in political, economic, social, technological, legal, and environmental factors that influence strategic planning. Americans desire increased quality patient care, wellness, and prevention programs. Health care organizations are seeing changes in volume and demographics related to their patients, and labor and technologies related to the health care organization.

For this assignment, select a health care organization within your state or region. Imagine you have been selected by the facility’s Executive Committee to develop a strategic plan that aligns to the organization’s mission and vision. Use critical thinking skills and research current events of your chosen organization to prepare your assignment.

Instructions and Grading Criteria

Write an 8–10 page strategic plan. Your plan must include the numbered elements listed below. Note that the instructions correspond to the grading criteria for this assignment.   1. Differentiate between strategic management, strategic thinking, strategic planning, and managing strategic momentum.
  2. Propose one specific analytical tool suitable for use as an adaptive strategy or strategies that will be the most effective in helping an organization achieve its strategic plan.
  3. Propose the manner and provide an example of how the selected analytical tool will be used to support the strategic proposal.
  4. Research three internal and three external factors that could become barriers to the success of the proposed strategic plan.
  5. Recommend at least one solution to each of the possible barriers to implementing your proposed strategic plan.
  6. Determine the specific segment of the market that your organization’s strategic plan will target.
  7. Recommend the most effective approach to marketing your strategic plan and provide examples.

As a managerial new hire and amidst the changes to come at Virginia Meats Inc., you will need to understand how to increase and maintain job performance and commitment during this transition and thereafter. Following upon week one’s Memo, the CEO Daniel Chinn now wants to gauge your understanding and preparedness to do this. Using the same Memo Format as in week one, answer in the follow-up questions for the CEO:

Explain your understanding of job performance and why it is important to a sustainable organization.

2. THROUGHOUT the week, complete the following:

  • Respond to your classmates three or more days throughout the week. Remember you are trying to develop the best answers to the questions as possible. Your classmates are doing the same so read the posts carefully looking for the best ideas being presented.  The goal is that by the end of the week the class will come to some consensus as to the best answers giving you the chance to submit the best ideas in the final post.
  • You must use course material to support your responses but you do not need to use APA in the brainstorming discussion with the exception of Friday’s initial first impression post.
  • Participation is worth 2.5 points each week (20% of the final grade). Participation must be reflected in the final post so grades will be affected by the content portion of the post if participation is not shown. Therefore, it is important to get in the class often and with the idea of improving your initial post with the discussion so that the final grade will be the best you can deliver.

Brainstorming is a technique that seeks to collect a myriad of ideas about a problem in an effort to find a unique and often innovative way of handling the solution. It can also be a way of collecting information about a situation or produce feedback about a particular topic. Brainstorming works very simply with only three rules: No idea is too far fetched, all ideas are to be accepted by the group for consideration, and the ideas must focus on the topic presented for discussion not whether the idea will work or not. Obviously, many ideas will be discounted later on when constraints like budget or implementation impossibilities may block its consideration for successful implementation. However, for the purpose of this discussion focus only on suggesting ideas from the class material and research which will answer the topic under discussion. Applying Moral Philosophy

Kohlberg identifies 6 stages of cognitive moral development in chapter 6 of our text book. Review the stages carefully and decide which stage you believe you fall under and why. Have you ever been associated with one of the other stages and changed to your current stage?

In business, a main set of activities are focused on predicting behavior of customers and employees. Organizations perhaps have some loose idea of the behaviors desired from employees and in most cases, the desired behavior from customers is a purchase. However, as we have been learning, everything that transacts between a company and customers, separate from the product or service, depends on human transactions. Measuring human behavior is a big deal in business organizations, however there are problems with utilizing past behavior and data, which is what measurements do, and predicting future outcomes. What are some of the inconsistencies in predicting future behavior using historical data and how might HR address these issues?

Assessing Business Strategy

Choose a publicly traded company by searching the Hoover’s Company Profile database in the library or the Yahoo Finance website. Conduct research on the company website and using library resources. Provide a brief synopsis about the company, the industry sector in which it operates, products, and target market. 

PERSUASION

For this assignment, review the basic concepts of persuasion discussed in Cialdini (2001) and McLean (2012). Make sure you are clear on the distinction between argument, persuasion, and propaganda.

Once you have finished reviewing the background materials, think about communication that you receive in your daily life that is intended to sway your attitudes, opinion, or behavior. This could be communication from your employer, YouTube videos, TV advertisements, spam email, and a host of other communication that you are exposed to in your daily life. After reviewing some communication examples, write a 3-page paper with a minimum of two scholarly sources (citing and referencing) addressing the following questions:

  1. Describe a communication example that you have seen that is best described as propaganda. In addition to describing the communication, explain why you think this was propaganda rather than argumentation or persuasion.
  2. Now find a communication example that you think is a good example of argumentation.
  3. Last, but definitely not least, find a communication example that is best defined as persuasion and best fits the concepts of persuasion discussed in Cialdini (2001) or McLean (2012). Explain why you think this communication best fits the definition of persuasion rather than propaganda or argumentation.
