Assignment 2: New Supervisor Training on Performance Evaluations

 Create a PowerPoint presentation to train new supervisors on how to conduct performance evaluations. Whether you use an annual evaluation, real-time feedback, or quarterly evaluations, it is important that new supervisors understand: • the rationale for a performance evaluation in general, • the rationale for the specific one in use, • the instrument used, and • the process for the evaluation.

Employment Law

You are responsible for training new managers on key employment policies and practices. For this assignment, you will create a PowerPoint presentation that includes information on the following topics:

  • protected classes under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and how the Act applies to staffing decisions;
  • employer conduct that violates anti-discrimination laws;
  • the importance of the Civil Rights Act in eliminating racial discrimination in the workplace;
  • the role of the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) in workplace discrimination regulations; and
  • documentation needed to defend retaliation claims.

You must use at least three sources, one of which may be your textbook. Consider the value of using actual case decisions to exemplify the regulation for your managers. Adhere to APA Style when creating citations and references for this assignment.

Your presentation should be eight to 10 slides, not including the title and reference slides. You are encouraged to use the slide notes function to explain slide contents as necessary or to add additional talking points you would want to discuss in your training.

Discussion 07.1- Student t-Test

For this discussion forum, refer to the Excel File Discussion 7-1 Data Set that contains information on the following:

Researchers conducted a study to determine whether magnets are effective in treating back pain. The results are shown in the table for the treatment
(with magnets) group and the sham
(or placebo) group. The results are a measure of reduction in back pain. Assume that the two samples are independent simple random samples selected from normally distributed
populations, and do not assume that the population standard deviations are equal.

1.Identify the worksheet (tab) that matches the first letter of your LAST name (i.e., if your last name were “Fudd” you would use the data from the “F” tab). This will be the source data you will use to answer your remaining questions for this initial post.

2.What is the null hypothesis and alternative hypothesis?

3.Identify the test statistic and p-value from your source data.

4.Would you reject or fail to reject your null hypothesis? Explain how you came to this conclusion (i.e. either use the test-statistic or p-value to support your claim).

5.Would there be sufficient evidence (based upon your source data) to support the claim that those treated with magnets have a greater mean reduction in pain than those given a sham treatment? Explain.

Based upon the course readings, supplementary materials, and your own literature search via the CTU online library, create, share, and discuss the following:

  • Review and analyze the practitioner literature of organizational learning.
  • Provide  at least 2 scholarly resources to support your response.
