Google Case Study

From your readings in Chapter 10, please review the Case Study on Google: The Drive to Balance Privacy with Profit. After your review of the video case study, please post a summary on your thoughts about the case study. Please correlate your thoughts to the readings from the chapter and one peer-reviewed article from the GU library. 

Please provide 1-2 examples to support your viewpoints that other learners will be able to assess and debate within our weekly discussion forum.

Research Paper

Write a double-spaced, 12-pt font, 10-12 page research journal on a current (within the last two years) HR issue using common HR practices, would you rectify the issue. Utilize APA 6.0 manuscript style including appropriate in-text citations in the body of your paper, and an APA-formatted “References” list. Your paper must be typed and double spaced, using 1″ margins and appropriate pagination.

Your paper must include at least 7 pages of actual content, not including ancillary pages such Title page, Table of Contents, References page, or charts or pictures in the Appendix. Any paper not submitted in current APA style will not be accepted. Use scholarly sources such as academic journals and trade publications (e.g. Harvard Business Review).  General websites such as Wikipedia and others cannot be used. Sites like Google Scholar (http://scholar.google.com/ (Links to an external site.)Links to an external site.) can help you find appropriate sources.

All material cited within your paper MUST be listed in the References.  Cite your sources whenever you quote something or someone within your paper.  Avoid plagiarism at all cost.  Be sure to follow the grading rubric to ensure maximum points for your work. Your paper will be submitted through TurnItIn to check for originality. Please note that assignments submitted in ANY other form or fashion will NOT be graded. No papers will be accepted after the course ends.

  • Title Page
  • Overview of your topic, including the history or background
  • Describe the law pertaining to the issue. For example, if your topic is disability discrimination you will want to include Title VII of the Civil Rights Act and the American’s with Disabilities Act (if you choose a legal issue)
  • Provide several examples of cases where employers were sued for discrimination.
  • Describe what type of policies and procedures the employers should have to    avoid litigation
  • Discuss whether or not the law is preventing lawsuits and discrimination and if not, what changes do you see may be needed
  • Conclusion
  • Reference page

  • What are the top three things in your life that have most influenced your viewpoints on sex and sexuality (some things to consider: religion, friends, family, age, hometown, TV and movies, etc.)?

  • What do you think of how the media portrays sexuality? What do you think of the messages religious or government institutions send about sexuality?

The Modern Health Care Leader Submission

Effective leaders can use their emotions in a positive way to benefit their organization, its employees, and stakeholders. Dye and Garman (2006) state, “The most effective leaders have a deeper understanding of their emotion” (p. 18), in their discussion of emotional intelligence (EI) and why it is important.

Over the last several years, organizations that are actively engaged in leadership development have expressed keen interest in understanding EI. Research suggests that EI may be more important than intellectual intelligence in determining leadership success, and leadership development programs may offer better outcomes if EI is better understood (Sadri, 2012).

  • Write a paper that defines and describes emotional intelligence.
  • Additionally, detail the value of EI possession among health care leaders.
  • Provide at least 1 example, real or hypothetical, of how emotional intelligence has been or can be used by effective leaders.

  • What factors will help you create an effective variable rate (aka incentive) pay plan?
  • How will you decide whether to use individual employee, work unit/team, organization-wide incentives, or some combination?
  • What key performance indicators will determine employees’ variable pay?
  • What type of incentive pay-out structure will be most appropriate for this specific job, and why?  How will it motivate employees while maximize organizational success?
