Training and Development 3

For the case study, we will focus on the importance of safety and all parties helping to make safety a priority. The effectiveness of the safety training will depend on how prepared the participants are for the training and their perception of the training.

Review “Case: Safety First” located in the textbook on pages 199-200, and respond to the prompts below. You are not required to answer the questions at the end of the case study in the textbook.

  1. Examine the components of an effective training needs analysis for this scenario. What would the basic parts for a successful training program be?
  2. Describe how the training should be delivered, and briefly describe one motivational theory from those listed on pages 163–173 in the textbook and how it supports this type of training to enhance an organization’s performance.

MGMT335 Unit 3 Memo

Please review the following scenario and place yourself in the position of the new Human Resource Manager for Acme Manufacturing. Once you understand the circumstances of the problems in this organization, please respond to the questions that the General Manager has posed.

Scenario: You just started work as the new Human Resources Manager for Acme Manufacturing, a Fortune 1,000 company. The job was vacant for 6 months prior to your hiring. You have wondered about this, especially since reading about employee harassment incidents and fights recently in the news.

The General Manager (GM) calls you into his office the minute you arrive. He shuts the door after saying a quick word of welcome and begins to tell you about an incident that happened last week that needs your immediate attention. The company’s manufacturing operation runs three shifts of production workers so that the plant is operating 24/7. Over the past 6 months, hostilities have arisen between employees on the third and first shifts. What started out as jeering and criticisms by the first shift, claiming they have to clean up the mess and complete all of the work left undone by the third shift, has escalated to physical confrontations and altercations. Although the GM says that aggressive bantering back and forth is common for shift workers in manufacturing, he admits that he is worried about further violent escalation. The GM says he needs your help.

  • Where do you think that      this evaluation should begin? In your reply, explain your reasoning.
  • Explain the different      levels of disciplinary actions that will be used for the Acme      Manufacturing Company. Your reply should include the levels of discipline      and 1 example of a disciplinary action for each level.
  • How would you determine      the disciplinary action appropriate for the employees involved in this      scenario? Your response should include your reasoning.
  • Why would you draft      policies and procedures associated with disciplinary actions for the      workplace? Provide a minimum of 2 reasons in your response.
  • How would you ensure      that the entire workforce is trained on these new policies and procedures?      Provide 1 example in your response.

Write a 5–7-page memo to the GM that provides your responses to his questions above. Be sure to cite any references used in proper APA format.

LP06 Assignment: Employer RFP Paper

Directions

Employer RFP Paper: (Read Chapter 5 and 7.)

SCENARIO: You are responsible for the request for proposal (RFP) department in an MCO. Several employers have come to you looking for health insurance benefit offerings to its employees. You are to provide a package of health care insurance benefit coverage recommendations based on the size of each company: small group, medium group, and large group.

a.For each company size, recommend the services you would offer that sized company. Include how those services would be organized. You may assume anything you want about the employer. Incorporate your assumptions into your paper.

Be sure to include such things as what payment systems would be implemented (fee-for-service? capitation? deduction? and so forth).

How would you incorporate inpatient and outpatient services? How would you handle behavioral health services?

b.For each company size, your paper should be about 2 to 4 pages in length. Double space and use 1 inch margins all around in 12 point Times New Roman font.

c.Use headers freely to help outline your various recommendations for structure and content

d.There is no one correct answer to this. Your task is to demonstrate through this assignment that you understand the structure, internal operations of MCOs and health care options as presented in the text.

e.When writing, consider these questions:

What might a small/medium/large group employer look like?

What sort of financial structure would you recommend?

What would be the physician relations and so forth?

Use the text as a guide as to other factors that should be included in your paper. Details are good here.

f.Consider the reader in how you structure each of your employer recommendations. Do not write paragraphs that are 50 lines long. Break up your content into paragraphs that reflect changes in topic or thought. As stated above, use headers freely. Proper grammar is important. Proofread your assignment for spelling and grammar before you submit it.

crisis management application

James (2013) summarizes that “crisis is a perception or experiencing of an event or situation as an intolerable difficulty that exceeds the person’s current resources and coping mechanisms” (p. 8). There are many theories and models of crisis. Counselor educators categorize these theories as basic, expanded, applied, and eclectic. In particular, an ecosystemic theory of crisis, developed by Bronfenbrenner, is also beginning to emerge as a notable theory. Bronfenbrenner’s ecosystemic theory takes a distinctive look at the ways in which a crisis can affect communities, regions, and entire nations, as well as how crises can slowly spread across continents. An ecosystemic crisis not only affects those individuals who directly experience the catastrophe, but can also produce potential victims who may vicariously experience the crisis.

To prepare for this Discussion:

  • Review Chapters 1 and 17 in your course text, Crisis Intervention Strategies, and think about the strengths and limitations of the various crisis theories offered.
  • Then consider which theories you think are the most relevant to crisis management and response.
  • Review the article, “Toward a Taxonomy of Disaster and Crisis Theories” to develop an understanding of administrative theory in crisis planning.
  • Think about the ways in which basic, expanded, applied, and eclectic crisis theories fit into crisis management and response, and where and when Maslow’s hierarchical theory can be applied to understanding crises responses.
  • Select two of the crisis theories you read about this week that you believe are the most relevant to crisis management and response and think about the strengths and limitations of each.

With these thoughts in mind:

Post by Day 4 a brief description of the two crisis theories you selected and explain why you believe these theories are the most relevant to crisis management and response. Then analyze the strengths and limitations of each of the two crisis theories you selected.

Note: Put the names of the two theories you selected in the first line of your post. You will be asked to respond to a colleague who chose at least one different theory than you did.

Powerpoint presentation

Compensation: Direct and Indirect = Total Compensation (Research)

Per the textbook, compensation can come in the form of financial returns, tangible services, and benefits. The two types of compensation are direct and indirect. Direct consists of pay for work performed. Indirect consists of the perks and benefits associated with the position/employment.

Imagine that you are a human resources (HR) manager, and it is your responsibility to identify data to help strategize, benchmark, and develop proper pay compensation for all positions within the organization. There are tons of software, vendors, and/or other services available to help with developing the pay grades, levels, and/or categories. Some sites you may consider using include the www.bls.govwebsite, where you can search via the  Occupational Outlook Handbook and the  www.onetonline.gov website where you can select career choice, scroll down to Wages & Employment Trends, click Local Salary Info, then select  State.

For this assignment, you will create an eight- to ten-slide PowerPoint presentation. You will first choose a job title and a location to present the findings/results. Imagine that you are presenting to your company leaders, and ensure that you identify the following components:

  • core compensation (direct compensation),
  • benefits (indirect compensation), and
  • benchmark benefits with the industry average.

As you create the content slides for your presentation, be sure to use the speaker notes function to explain the content in detail for each of the slides.

Note: Keep the 6×6 PowerPoint rule in mind (i.e., slides should only include six to seven lines of content with no more than six to seven words per line). Any illustrations should relate to the content being discussed. Be creative!

Include a title slide and a references slide in your presentation; however, please note that these slides do not count toward meeting the total slide count requirement.
