Discussion 08: Harassment

Discussion

In Chapter 10 of your textbook, you explored the relationship between organizational culture and ethics. Keep this reading in mind as you respond to the following case study:

You are the director of a radiology department. During a routine individual meeting with one of your male staff, the employee tells you that a female employee has been making suggestive remarks to him, and occasionally grabbed and fondled him in a sexual manner. He said he asked her several times to stop this behavior as he was married and did not appreciate the behavior, particularly in a work setting. The behavior continued anyway. The male employee asks you not to report this further because he did not want to get the female employee in trouble and he brought it up only for ideas how to make her stop it.

Consider these questions in your 8 – 10 sentence discussion board post:

.What are your ethical obligations?

.What ethical theories apply to your situation, and why?

.Does the work of Carol Gilligan change how we should respond in this scenario? Why or why not?

Your initial post should be a minimum of 8 – 10 sentences and include an APA-style references list to ensure full credit.

short answers.

The adolescence is a difficult stage in the lives of any person, however at present is become a really nightmare in some case .We are living in a world that move to fast at some time we do not have time to stop and think carefully some decision in this scenario have a paramount role the program that we can apply in order to reduce the stress. With the teens is especially difficult because many of them not divulge theirs feeling. Middle school students can be entirely vulnerable to push due to the enormous changes they are encountering genuinely, inwardly, socially, and mentally during these years.

According Weber,2019 they might be encountering stressors, for example, schoolwork load, a bustling timetable, peer pressure, test uneasiness, grades, picture concerns, absence of help, and changes in schedule. Even though many students experience worry, there are solid ways for guardians and understudies to create adapting procedures to oversee it. Guardians can help their kids by training them time the board abilities; guaranteeing they aren’t overscheduled; empowering rest, work out, and good dieting; observing parental weight, empowering outside play, and permitting the kid to have a great time(Weber,2019). Exist programs that uses peer advocate, this mean that we educate high school student about depression and fight again this disease. Also help to reduce the stigma about the people that suffer this disease and encourage people to find any kind of help.

The Peer-to-Peer (P2P) program, it uses a “peer advocate” method to educate high school students about depression and teach them effective methods to convey this knowledge to peers in order to reduce stigma, raise awareness and encourage help-seeking(Starkman,2018). This student advocate is selected by teacher, counselors, and nurses, they learn about techniques that help to reduce the stress and them creates different activities where they can use all that knowledge. Activities like teaching session, make poster about the fight against this disease, also create confidential way to express any kind of feeling or having yoga in the cafeteria of the school( Starkman,2018).This activities help Jamal to feel more confident and ask for help if he have any depression symptoms .

HOMEWORK ASSIGNMENT

Discussion: School Health Issues

Previous Next

Health is a state of complete physical, mental, and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity, as defined by the World Health Organization. Nationally, there is growing interest in preventing health problems and promoting behaviors that improve individual and community health. The challenge is to use what has been learned about effective strategies to prevent health adversities and to encourage the widespread and consistent practice of healthy behaviors.

Due to changing family conditions and numbers of students attending school with health problems, the traditional role of providing assessment and screening for all students has broadened to include a focus on the physical condition of younger students, as well as substance abuse, early pregnancy, and sexually transmitted disease among older students. School health encompasses a range of activities that promote and protect student health.

  1. In your opinion how much responsibility should public schools take for the health of their students?
  2. Would you consider that public schools with a fairly strong and active health program are crossing over from the business of just an educator to that of a public health/health care provider?
  3. Who should pay for these additional services and programs for our children?

Ethical Case Study Discussion

Sue T. is the nurse manager for medical-surgical units at a community hospital.  She is currently enrolled in a nursing master’s degree program at the local university.  As part of the requirements for a Nursing Management course, Sue proposes to conduct a study linking nursing interventions and nursing outcomes.  She returns to her place of employment at night for two weeks to audit patient charts and collect the data she needs for her assignment.  She makes copies of the patient records that are particularly helpful and takes them home to write the final paper.

As Sue is developing her paper, she realizes that the information she has collected may be helpful in completing her nursing staff performance evaluations due next month.   She decides to collect further patient outcome data for individual nurses to monitor their performance.

Consider the following

  1. Has Sue violated ethical principles by collecting data for a college assignment? Why or Why not?
  2. Has Sue violated ethical principles by collecting patient data for employee performance evaluations? Why or Why not?
  3. What, if anything, should Sue have done differently in completing her college assignment?
  4. What, if anything, should Sue have done differently in completing her employee performance evaluations?
