 You are the chief privacy officer for a health system. Your responsibilities include developing, guiding, and assisting with the overall Privacy and HIPAA policies and procedures for departments that store, process, and transmit protected health information. You have been asked to review the health system’s current policies and procedures on HIPAA. As a best practice, your first plan of action is to review the current literature on recent health policy developments (i.e., health reform) and the impact of those developments on HIPAA. Identify a quality improvement opportunity in your organization or practice. In a 1,250-1,500 word paper, describe the problem or issue and propose a quality improvement initiative based on evidence-based practice. Apply “The Road to Evidence-Based Practice” process, illustrated in Chapter 4 of your textbook, to create your proposal.

Include the following:

1. Provide an overview of the problem and the setting in which the problem or issue occurs.
2. Explain why a quality improvement initiative is needed in this area and the expected outcome.
3. Discuss how the results of previous research demonstrate support for the quality improvement initiative and its projected outcomes.
