3). PLEASE SEE THE FOLLOWING ATTACHED RUBRIC DETAILS AND THE PREVIOUS ASSIGNMENT FROM LAST WEEK, WHICH IS FROM MODULE 1 ASSIGNMENT.

Thank you.

Competing needs arise within any organization as employees seek to meet their targets and leaders seek to meet company goals. As a leader, successful management of these goals requires establishing priorities and allocating resources accordingly.

Within a healthcare setting, the needs of the workforce, resources, and patients are often in conflict. Mandatory overtime, implementation of staffing ratios, use of unlicensed assisting personnel, and employer reductions of education benefits are examples of practices that might lead to conflicting needs in practice.

Leaders can contribute to both the problem and the solution through policies, action, and inaction. In this Assignment, you will further develop the white paper you began work on in Module 1 by addressing competing needs within your organization.

To Prepare:

  • Review the national healthcare issue/stressor you examined in your Assignment for Module 1, and review the analysis of the healthcare issue/stressor you selected.
  • Identify and review two evidence-based scholarly resources that focus on proposed policies/practices to apply to your selected healthcare issue/stressor.
  • Reflect on the feedback you received from your colleagues on your Discussion post regarding competing needs.

The Assignment (4-5 pages):

Developing Organizational Policies and Practices

Add a section to the paper you submitted in Module 1. The new section should address the following:

  • Identify and describe at least two competing needs impacting your selected healthcare issue/stressor.
  • Describe a relevant policy or practice in your organization that may influence your selected healthcare issue/stressor.
  • Critique the policy for ethical considerations, and explain the policy’s strengths and challenges in promoting ethics.
  • Recommend one or more policy or practice changes designed to balance the competing needs of resources, workers, and patients, while addressing any ethical shortcomings of the existing policies. Be specific and provide examples.
  • Cite evidence that informs the healthcare issue/stressor and/or the policies, and provide two scholarly resources in support of your policy or practice recommendations.

Population health and epidemiology

Exercise 2.5

Diabetes affects a growing number of Americans. You have been invited to join a collaborative of community agencies interested in tackling diabetes from a community perspective.  I reside in Maryland, in Howard county.

1) What resources will you use to identify different outcomes related to diabetes?

2) What outcomes related to diabetes are of most interest to community members?

3) How will you compare the outcomes you select to monitor at the local level with state and national outcomes?

The objectives for Week 1 are:

Integrate key terms of epidemiology and population health to the Advanced Practice Nurse role.

Recommend primary, secondary, and tertiary prevention strategies as related to the objectives of HP2020.

Plan for inter-professional collaborations aimed at achieving HP2020 goals and objectives.

Compare and contrast sources of epidemiological data that are used to inform levels of prevention.

The last weekly objective, #4, uses the word “sources”. This correlates to Exercise 2.5’s use of the word “resources”. By this it means, where can a provider find data that inform them regarding outcomes? What is this data, what are the outcomes? Consider morbidity, mortality, incidence, prevalence, cases, various cultural populations such as racial or socioeconomic information.

Data sources include but are not limited to these examples: State level public health departments, state-level health, and human services or task forces, federal level agencies, CDC, HP2020, Office of Minority Health

What resources will you use to identify different outcomes related to diabetes?

I think it is helpful, to begin with defining population health outcomes. The next piece is to clearly understand how these outcomes are different than individual outcomes. What terms are used to describe population health-based outcomes?

After clearly identifying those pieces, the next step is to know where a provider can find that information. Please respond to these questions in your reply post using the course textbook and Canvas readings to support the content.

Find an article in the library that is about population health outcomes. This can be outcomes for any health issue, diabetes, obesity, kidney disease, etc. It should be for the US. Please provide a link to the article in your reply along with a brief summary.

respond with a minimum of three (3) paragraphs each.

You should address each bullet point in the exercise.

Your work should have in-text citations integrating at a minimum one scholarly article from this week’s readings and course textbook. (  Curley, L. A., & Vitale, A. P. (2016). Population-based nursing: Concepts and competencies for advanced practice (2 nd Ed.). New York; NY, Springer Publishing Company).

APA format should be utilized to include a reference list.

Correct grammar, spelling, and APA should be adhered to when writing, work should be scholarly without personalization or first-person use.

in addition to your textbook, Data sources include but are not limited to these examples: State level public health departments, state-level health, and human services or task forces, federal level agencies, CDC, HP2020, Office of Minority Health

community health nursing

  1. Submit an essay of the developed action plan for a community educational project. The project plan should include 2 (two) goals and objectives based on your topic from Healthy People 2020, an implementation plan for implementing these activities, a budget (if necessary, not required), a justification for the project, a description of where and when the plan will be implemented, and a description of the teaching materials which will be utilized during the execution of the project. Then recommend nursing actions/interventions to improve the health concern and achieve your stated goals and objectives. Discuss potential public and private partnerships that could be formed to implement your recommendations and create a timeline (i.e. 3 month, 6 month) for potential expected outcomes.

The assignment should be written in an APA-formatted essay. The essay should be between 1250 and 1500 words in length and include at least two scholarly sources other than provided materials.

DQ1 DQ2. BY 11/24

DQ1    250 WORDS CITATION AND REFERENCES

Submit a summary of six of your articles on the discussion board. Discuss one strength and one weakness for each of these six articles on why the article may or may not provide sufficient evidence for your practice change.

DQ2.   250 WORDS CITATION AND REFERENCES

Name two different methods for evaluating evidence. Compare and contrast these two methods.

Your in Communication

The purpose of this assignment is to stimulate reflection about an experience, rather than just documenting the experience.

First, complete the questionnaire portion of “What Is Your Role in Communicating Research Information? Part I Questionnaire and Scoring Guide” resource.

Score the questionnaire using the same resource.

One way to keep from simply documenting the event is to begin your answer to the above questions with one of the following phrases:

  1. During my experience, I felt…
  2. I learned… about myself.
  3. The significance or meaning of my learning is…
  4. I discovered I …

Refer to the “Feeling Words” resource. The list of feeling words may serve as an aid to identify feelings that may occur during health care professional-patient interactions.

Based on the questionnaire results, as well as the insights gained from the Topic 1 readings, write a 250- to 500-word reflection, addressing the following questions:

  • How would you describe your success with communicating?
  • What did you learn about your communication style that enables you to communicate effectively?
  • How will you work to increase your communication ability with compassion and care for others?
  • How will you use this research process to communicate what you have learned about your communication skills that will help you as a health care professional?
