The purpose of Reflection-in-Action is to reflect upon what one has learned or how one has performed as compared with one’s expectations or goals. This assignment will provide an opportunity for students to share their experiences, thoughts, feelings and learning moments from this course. 

Self understanding through reflection on life experiences, feelings, etc., is a core concept in Dr. Jean Watson’s Theory of Human Caring.

Using the Logic Model evaluation design above, choose a community health communication intervention to evaluate. The format of your paper should be in a narrative format, addressing each column of the Logic Model as you discuss the program, how well it addresses the health issue and its effectiveness. Your paper should be 1- 2 pages, double-spaced, and follow APA 7th edition format. More information can be found in Chapter 14.

You will include the primary NCHEC Area of Responsibility and Competencies you are addressing in this assignment as a separate paragraph. Discuss the areas you are practicing for this assignment and the specific competency(ies) you are utilizing. Discuss the importance of these competencies as it relates to the profession of public health.

1. Search to find five scholarly qualitative primary research articles that pertain to the PICOT question that you developed in the assignment for Module 1.  Each article must be a primary, qualitative research study.  The articles should all have been written within the last five years.  HINT: When you are searching the database, you can narrow your search by using the search term “qualitative research” in the Subject Terms field. 

     2. Using the Qualitative Research Summary enter the information from each article. 

• Do not leave blanks in the cells. For example, if there is not a theoretical framework used in the study, state that there wasn’t one used. 
• If you use abbreviations, please provide the definition/explanation of what the abbreviation means.
• For each article, you will respond to the guided questions, as delineated below:
  • Are the results of the study valid? Support your answer.
  • How were the participants chosen?  What was the sampling strategy?
  • How believable are the results?
  • What were the results and what are the implications of the results?
  • What was the research methodology used?

Program/policy evaluation is a valuable tool that can help strengthen the quality of programs/policies and improve outcomes for the populations they serve. Program/policy evaluation answers basic questions about program/policy effectiveness. It involves collecting and analyzing information about program/policy activities, characteristics, and outcomes. This information can be used to ultimately improve program services or policy initiatives.

Nurses can play a very important role assessing program/policy evaluation for the same reasons that they can be so important to program/policy design. Nurses bring expertise and patient advocacy that can add significant insight and impact. In this Assignment, you will practice applying this expertise and insight by selecting an existing healthcare program or policy evaluation and reflecting on the criteria used to measure the effectiveness of the program/policy.

Your quest to purchase a new car begins with an identification of the factors important to you. As you conduct a search of cars that rate high on those factors, you collect evidence and try to understand the extent of that evidence. A report that suggests a certain make and model of automobile has high mileage is encouraging. But who produced that report? How valid is it? How was the data collected, and what was the sample size?

In this Assignment, you will delve deeper into clinical inquiry by closely examining your PICO(T) question. You also begin to analyze the evidence you have collected.

To Prepare:

• Review the Resources and identify a clinical issue of interest that can form the basis of a clinical inquiry.
• Develop a PICO(T) question to address the clinical issue of interest you identified in Module 2 for the Assignment. This PICOT question will remain the same for the entire course.
