Scenario Assignment Instructions

In the scenario assignments, you are asked to reflect on responses to the presented scenario. This should not just be writing down your first reaction or what you already know. Reflection involves critical thinking, which means rethinking your existing knowledge and previously held opinions in light of what we have learned about theories of ethics, logic, and reasoning. You will need to question your existing knowledge and beliefs.

To complete each scenario assignment:

Complete the entire scenario.

Compose your reflection in a Word document and be sure to address, at a minimum, the following questions:

Why do you feel the way you do about the issue presented?

Of the four responses offered in the scenario, which do you feel is the most ethical and why?

Support your conclusions with evidence and specific examples from the textbook, as well as other sources as needed.

Your reflection must be 1-2 pages in length and follow APA formatting and citation guidelines as appropriate.

Database Search

Choose a topic related to health that has meaning to your personal  health, interests, and well-being. This may be a disease, such as  diabetes, or a healthy fitness activity.

Conduct a database search comparing one of the following database directories with Google Scholar.

  • CINAHL and Google Scholar
  • PubMed and Google Scholar

Explain how you were able to narrow down the number of article hits  you had initially, and present within your post a summary of the  credible article you chose as your resource. How do you know your  article choice is credible? Which database do you prefer and why?

How will using a database search facilitate your:

  • scholarly work;
  • nursing work (evidence-based practice); and
  • personal self-development?

Discussion: Treatment of Personality Disorders Week 3

Assigned Personality Disorder:

Personality Disorder:  Antisocial Personality Disorder

Anxiety Disorder:  SOCIAL ANXIETY DISORDER (SOCIAL PHOBIA)

Neurocognitive Disorders:  Vascular Neurocognitive Disorder

Sleep Wake:  Hypersomnia

To prepare for this Discussion:

  • By Day 5 of Week 2, your Instructor will have assigned      you a personality disorder, which will be your focus for your initial post      for this Discussion.
  • Review the Learning Resources.

Post:

  • Explain the diagnostic criteria for your assigned      personality disorder.

  • Explain the evidenced-based psychotherapy and      psychopharmacologic treatment for your assigned personality disorder.

  • Describe clinical features from a client that led you      to believe this client had this disorder. Align the clinical features with      the DSM-5 criteria.

Note: Support your rationale with a minimum of three academic resources less than five years in APA format, including introduction and conclusion

Ethical implications – 2 pages

Write a 2- to 3-page paper that addresses the following:

  • Explain the ethical and legal implications of the scenario you selected on all stakeholders involved, such as the prescriber, pharmacist, patient, and patient’s family.
  • Describe strategies to address disclosure and nondisclosure as identified in the scenario you selected. Be sure to reference laws specific to your state.
  • Explain two strategies that you, as an advanced practice nurse, would use to guide your decision making in this scenario, including whether you would disclose your error. Be sure to justify your explanation.
  • Explain the process of writing prescriptions, including strategies to minimize medication errors.

Scenario: During your lunch break at the hospital, you read a journal article on pharmacoeconomics. You think of a couple of patients who have recently mentioned their financial difficulties. You wonder if some of the expensive drugs you have prescribed are sufficiently managing the patients’ health conditions and improving their quality of life.

In a 4- to 5-page paper, synthesize the peer-reviewed research you reviewed.

New technology—and the application of existing technology—only appears in healthcare settings after careful and significant research. The stakes are high, and new clinical systems need to offer evidence of positive impact on outcomes or efficiencies.

Nurse informaticists and healthcare leaders formulate clinical system strategies. As these strategies are often based on technology trends, informaticists and others have then benefited from consulting existing research to inform their thinking.

In this Assignment, you will review existing research focused on the application of clinical systems. After reviewing, you will summarize your findings.

To Prepare:

  • Review the Resources and reflect on the impact of clinical systems on outcomes and efficiencies within the context of nursing practice and healthcare delivery.
  • Conduct a search for recent (within the last 5 years) research focused on the application of clinical systems. The research should provide evidence to support the use of one type of clinical system to improve outcomes and/or efficiencies, such as “the use of personal health records or portals to support patients newly diagnosed with diabetes.”
  • Identify and select 4 peer-reviewed research articles from your research.

The Assignment: (4-5 pages)

In a 4- to 5-page paper, synthesize the peer-reviewed research you reviewed. Format your Assignment as an Annotated Bibliography. Be sure to address the following:

  • Identify the 4 peer-reviewed research articles you reviewed, citing each in APA format.
  • Summarize each study, explaining the improvement to outcomes, efficiencies, and lessons learned from the application of the clinical system each peer-reviewed article described. Be specific and provide examples.
  • In your conclusion, synthesize the findings from the 4 peer-reviewed research article

Family Interview – Compare and Contrast Cultures Paper

It is important to identify and understand your own family culture in order to be able to understand and respect other cultures. Interview a family member, and an individual from another culture with which you are unfamiliar. Some examples of an individual from another culture to consider for the assignment include a neighbor, coworker, patient, or friend. Please inform the individuals of the purpose of this assignment and make sure you receive their consent.

Interviews:

Review the “Family Interview ” template prior to the interview. Additional space is designated on the template for you to create three additional questions to ask both interviewees (family member and person from another culture). Additional questions should be relevant to the readings or discussion and should provide value to the interview by helping to understand culture.

Some of the questions may include:

  1. Family beliefs: Have they changed over generations?
  2. Educational and occupational status in the culture and in the family
  3. Communication methods: verbal and nonverbal
  4. Current family goals/priorities
  5. Family member roles and organizational systems
  6. Spiritual beliefs: current practice and death and dying
  7. Alternative lifestyles
  8. Work attitudes and structure

Written Paper:

Using the “Family Interview ” template, interview your designated family member and the person from another culture. Be sure to write your responses in a way that will assist you in writing your paper. After the interview is completed, write a paper of 750-1,000 words that includes the following:

  1. An introductory paragraph with the reasons for selecting the interviewees
  2. A summary of the responses from the interview template gathered from the interviewees
  3. A comparison and contrast of your findings between the two interviewees
  4. A reflective concluding paragraph on how family roles affect the cultural domains and relationships for each individual

General Requirements:

Submit both the completed “Family Interview” template and the written paper” to the instructor.
