Part 1: Baseline Demographic Table

– . Create a demographic table and populate the table with the results of descriptive analysis.

While the implementation plan prepares students to apply their research to the problem or issue they have identified for their capstone project change proposal, the literature review enables students to map out and move into the active planning and development stages of the project.

A literature review analyzes how current research supports the PICOT, as well as identifies what is known and what is not known in the evidence. Students will use the information from the earlier PICOT Question Paper and Literature Evaluation Table assignments to develop a 750-1,000 word review that includes the following sections:

1. Title page
2. Introduction section
3. A comparison of research questions
4. A comparison of sample populations
5. A comparison of the limitations of the study
6. A conclusion section, incorporating recommendations for further research

Prepare this assignment according to the guidelines found in the APA Style Guide, located in the Student Success Center. An abstract is not required.

This assignment uses a rubric. Please review the rubric prior to beginning the assignment to become familiar with the expectations for successful completion.

Part 11

Work with your preceptor to assess the organization for the required resources needed for the strategic plan if the change proposal were to be implemented. Review your strategic plan and determine what resources would be needed if the change proposal were to be implemented. Write a list of at least four resources you will need in order to implement your change proposal.

The assignment will be used to develop a written implementation plan.

While APA style is not required for the body of this assignment, solid academic writing is expected, and documentation of sources should be presented using APA formatting guidelines, which can be found in the APA Style Guide, located in the Student Success Center.

Research shows that the U.S. spends the most money on health care compared to other high-income countries. Although the United States spends more money, United States citizens’ health quality is lower.

The United States is the lowest ranking for overall quality of health out of the eleven high income countries. Canada is ranked number 9 out of 11. The United States and Canada are similar when comparing aspects of their healthcare system. For example, both countries are ranked below average for access to health care, equity, and health care outcomes. Additionally, Canada and the United States are ranked above average for care processes related to prevention, safety, and engagement from patients and doctors. For administrative efficiency, Canada ranks above the average while the U.S. remains below average. (The Commonwealth Fund 2017)

One major difference between Canada and the United States is that Canada provides universal health care and the U.S. does not. Non-citizens living in the United States may not qualify to receive health care. As for Canada, temporary visitors and immigrants are eligible for limited health care benefits. Population Health 

How COVID Disproportionately Affects People of Color

Course Objectives: 1) Critically analyze the impact of environment and lifestyle on the health

of populations. 2) Integrate evidenced-based research findings, community resources and cultural competence in planning, implementing, and evaluating population(s)-centered care.

Clinical Objectives: 1) Analyze the potential for actual impact of economic, environmental, political, legal, ethical, and epidemiological factors on client systems in community settings. 

2) Apply concepts from general education courses (humanities, social and behavioral, sciences; physical and natural sciences; mathematics, business and economics) and research to the care of clients or aggregates.

Summary: As scientists and doctors struggle to find a cure or vaccine for COVID-19, racial and economic disparities are making the impact worse for some groups. Nearly 30 percent of U.S. patients were Black — even though African Americans make up only about 13 percent of the general population. The share of cases among Latinos is also disproportionately large. This story examines significant racial disparities that exist in our society and how they affect the pandemic’s toll. Real people and doctors discuss the complicated social and political intersections the pandemic has brought to light.

Introduction

While treating the chronically ill, a major challenge is developing a plan of care that addresses the specific needs of a patient and a caregiver. You need to be in close touch with patients and their support group, family and peers, to come up with an ideal plan.

In this course project, you are going to develop a plan of care for a chronic illness group of your choice using the Healthy People 2020 topics. While executing the tasks of this project, remember that while you need to give a general overview of the biomedical considerations of the case, the focus should always be on the psychosocial elements. Your perspective in this care plan should be the patient’s goals rather than those of the medical team.

Each week, you will complete a part of this project, submitting the final project in Week 5.

Identifying a Group

Identify a chronic illness of specific interest to you that is also identified as a Healthy People 2020 topic (healthypeople.gov). In a Microsoft Word document of 4-5 pages formatted in APA style, address the following criteria:

·  Identify a chronic illness and rationale for choice.

·  Develop a questionnaire by utilizing your knowledge of health and illness, with the aim of acquiring all information you need from patients to prepare a plan of care for the specific illness group.

·  Discuss morbidity and comorbidity of the disease.

·  Discuss the impact of the chronic illness and patient morbidity on overall health of the nation.

·  Incorporate Healthy People 2020 goals and objectives for the specific illness group.
