Anthropology of Language and Communication

As many of your might have experienced, learning to speak a second language can be quite difficult. This is especially true for adults. Even if we do learn some rudimentary version of a language that is not native to us, many adults do not become fluent. However, young children seem to learn multiple languages quite easily. For this discussion, please share any experiences you have had with learning a second language – whether it is from childhood, a high school language class requirement, immersion in another culture, or trying to learn it on your own. If you can fluently speak more than one language, share how you were able to do that. How old were you when you learned the second language? How was it taught to you?

If you haven’t become fluent (yet), why do you think that is? How could you have improved your success?

For those of you who have never tried to learn a second language, how hard do you think it would be to start to learn one right now? Why? How would you go about making sure that you were as successful as possible?

Provide your initial post by 11:59 pm on Sunday. Your initial post should be at least 200 words in length, excluding the discussion prompt and the references. Please use in-text APA citations within your post as well as full APA references at the end of your post.

Write an Assembly program to do the following.

Your program should define three arrays such that Array1 has eight values: $01, $02, $03, $04, $05, $06, $07, $08 and Array2 has eight values: $11, $12, $13, $14, $15, $16, $17, $18, and Array3 has eight bytes reserved. The program reads DIP switches, then, does the followings:

1. If the readings are %00001001 = $09, then, copy the data from Array1 to Array3 and display ‘1to3’ on 7segment units sequentially (a letter at a time)  3 times.
The interval between the letters is 0.6sec. You should use TIMER to time exactly 0.6sec. After displaying the letters, your program is done. Note: CPU speed is 24MHz

2. If the readings are %10010000 = $90, then, copy the data from Array2 to Array3 and display ‘2to3’ on 7segment units all at once 3 times.
The interval between the letters is 1msec. You should use TIMER to time exactly 1msec. After displaying the letters, your program is done.

3. If the readings are neither$09 nor $90, then, turn on all LEDs, and go back to the beginning of the program to read DIP switches repeatedly.

System Analyst Queries

For this question, assume you are employed as a systems analyst at your organization. Your organization has a number of in-house developed software solutions that they are interested in enhancing for ease of use, efficiency, and added capabilities. These are a time keeping system, a billing system, and a customer mailing system that sends customers marketing materials.

Management has asked you to select one of these systems and gather user requirements for consideration to be incorporated in the next iteration of the software.

Identify which system you selected and write at least three closed-ended questions that you might use in an interview of the users for the solution you selected in order to develop ideas for the next version. Explain why you chose the questions you did and what type of information you are hoping to gain by asking them.

Assignment

Topic: Perform a LOPA (Layers of Protection Analysis) of your local living area or work location. Remember to get permission from security.

Instructions: Please download the Assignment 7 Layers of Protection Analysis (LOPA) template (MS Word), which is already in APA 7 format, using size 12 Times New Roman font, 1-inch margins, TOC, Headings and Reference page. If you insert images or tables in your report make sure you label them appropriately according to APA.

Discussion

research and discuss a company’s trademark that has been awarded protection by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. You may select the company that you work for, or a company you aspire to work for. You’re welcome to select one simply from a company you admire or that intrigues you in any way. Have fun making a choice.

Describe the trademark, its application (e.g., does it cover merchandise, a service, a website … what does the mark relate to?). Was there any objections or litigation surround the trademark application or award? If so write about that. Do you believe there is a risk of infringement? Are there international IP implications? What other interesting information surrounded its application or award? In [too?] many cases, it’s not so simple as designing a mark and completing governmental documents, so help your classmates learn about the complicated, challenging process of filing for and attaining IP protection from the U.S. government.

Discussion 2- Org Behavior

Assigned Readings:Chapter 2. Diversity in OrganizationsInitial Postings: Read and reflect on the assigned readings for the week. Then post what you thought was the most important concept(s), method(s), term(s), and/or any other thing that you felt was worthy of your understanding in each assigned textbook chapter.Your initial post should be based upon the assigned reading for the week, so the textbook should be a source listed in your reference section and cited within the body of the text. Other sources are not required but feel free to use them if they aid in your discussion.Also, provide a graduate-level response to each of the following questions:

  1. Despite increases in diversity training programs, outcomes are not consistently leading to increases of diversity within upper management. What might be the reason for this phenomenon and how might it be addressed?
[Your post must be substantive and demonstrate insight gained from the course material. Postings must be in the student’s own words – do not provide quotes!]  [Your initial post should be at least 450+ words and in APA format (including Times New Roman with font size 12 and double spaced). Post the actual body of your paper in the discussion thread then attach a Word version of the paper for APA review]

Java Fundamentals

After you gain familiarity with the Eclipse environment, you are  going to write a very simple Java program, and run it using Eclipse.  Following is the sample code.

Note that the name of the following Java program is HelloWorld.java.  The spelling of HelloWorld must be exactly the same as to the word next  to “public class.” Be careful about the upper and lowercase, in Java,  uppercase and lowercase does make a difference. And by tradition, the  first letter of the class should be in upper case.

public class HelloWorld

{

        public static void main(String[] args)

       {

                 System.out.println(“Hello World, this is my first Java class”);

        }

}

Case Assignment

Write a java program to display a greeting message and name it as  greetings.java. The message needs to include the following information:  your name, city you live in, your profession, and what you would like to  do in your spare time etc. Once you are done with debugging and running  the program, copy a screen shot of the output along with the java  program, paste it to a word document, and submit the word document to  dropbox.

Note: use sample program as reference to prepare for this programming assignment.

Assignment Expectations

• The program should use both System.out.print and System.out.println methods
• The program has no compiling errors.
• The program displays the greeting message required.

********PLEASE READ **********

******* Please submit (upload) your Case and SLP assignments in two files:
1.  A screenshot of the full Eclipse window, with the (numbered) source  code and the output clearly visible. The screenshot should be taken and  pasted into the Word (LibreOffice etc.) document and submitted as .DOCX  file.
 The output is typically displayed in the console below the source code or to the right of the source code.
Make sure all is included in your screenshot.

2. You also have to upload your source code as a separate .TXT file  (written in Word, WordPad or similar, (but not in Notepad). Another  option is to include your source code as a plain text in the .DOCX  document referred to in (1).

3. You DO NOT need to submit .JAVA file.

You are required to place comments in your JAVA source code.

Blockchain Technology and Financial Services

choose one of the 8 core functions described in chapter 3, explain why it is important in moving today’s economy forward, and provide at least two real examples of the chosen core function being changed by blockchain technology today. Then think of three questions you’d like to ask other students and add these to the end of your thread. The questions should be taken from material you read in Chapter 1. You’re not trying to test each other, but you are trying to start a discussion.

Answer should be a minimum of 250 words.
