Paper Section 1: Reflection and Literature Review

Using Microsoft Word and Professional APA format, prepare a professional written paper supported with three sources of research based on what you have learned from chatpers 5 and 6.  This section of the paper should be a minimum of two pages. 

Paper Section 2:  Applied Learning Exercises

In this section of the professional paper, apply what you have learned from chapters 5 and 6 to descriptively address and answer the problems below.  Important Note:  Dot not type the actual written problems within the paper itself.

1. Examine how new data-capture devices such as radio-frequency identification (RFID) tags help organizations accurately identify and segment their customers for activities such as targeted marketing. Many of these applications involve data mining. Scan the literature and the Web and then propose five potential new data mining applications that can use the data created with RFID technology. What issues could arise if a country’s laws required such devices to be embedded in everyone’s body for a national identification system?
2. Survey and compare some data mining tools and vendors. Start with fairisaac.com and egain.com. Consult dmreview.com and identify some data mining products and service providers that are not mentioned in this chapter. One of my favorites to explore is RapidMiner found at https://rapidminer.com/ and an educational license option can be found at:  https://rapidminer.com/educational-program/
3. Explore the Web sites of several neural network vendors, such as California Scientific Software (calsci.com), NeuralWare (neuralware.com), and Ward Systems Group (wardsystems.com), and review some of their products. Download at least two demos and install, run, and compare them.
4. Important Note:  With limited time for a college class, perfection is not expected but effort to be exposed to various tools with attempts to learn about them is critical when considering a career in information technology associated disciplines.

Important Note:  There is no specific page requirement for this section of the paper but make sure any content provided fully addresses each problem.

Paper Section 3:  Conclusions

After addressing the problems, conclude your paper with details on how you will use this knowledge and skills to support your professional and or academic goals. This section of the paper should be around one page including a custom and original process flow or flow diagram to visually represent how you will apply this knowledge going forward.  This customized and original flow process flow or flow diagram can be created using the “Smart Art” tools in Microsoft Word.

Paper Section 4:  APA Reference Page

The three or more sources of research used to support this overall paper should be included in proper APA format in the final section of the paper.

Using your personal page that created on Assignment#1,  add the following:

• Add two separate HTML pages that contain:One Page includes details about your Contact Information (home vs work) and best way to contact

Describe a Graphical User Interface (GUI) and compare it with the command line interface (CLI).

Enter two CLI commands on your computer and take screenshots.

Take a screen shot that shows a GUI interface. Add the screen shots to your Word document.

1. Explain what analytics are? What are business analytics? Do they differ from other analytics and how? Explain why or why you cannot do analytics without data?  Explain why or why you cannot do analytics without big data?

2. Where do you get the data for analytics? Is all of it internal to the company? Identify at least 5 sources of external data and explain when you might be able to use them.

2. What are the privacy issues associated with data mining? Do you think they are substantiated? Why or why not? — ignore this question — already responded to in the discussion. 

3. Distinguish data mining from other analytical tools and techniques.

4. Discuss at least 3 data mining methods. What are the fundamental differences among them

The above assignments should be submitted in one-word document. Include an APA cover page and a reference page.

When submitting work, be sure to include an APA cover page and include at least two APA formatted references (and APA in-text citations)

Week 2 Written Assignment

Each assignment will be an essay written in APA format (see below). Each essay should be no less than 1500 words on the topic (s) noted below.

The title page and bibliography do not count towards the word count.

Complete the assignment in a Word document using APA formatting with your last name as part of the file name. Omit the abstract and outline. A Word APA template and APA sample paper are provided for reference

After completing the essay, save and upload the document in the Assignments section of the e-classroom.

Topic: After conducting independent research using at least three sources not used in the class write an essay that evaluates how to conduct effective research online.

1. Based on readings in Rising Powers, Global Governance, and Global Ethics and related discussions, choose 1 of the countries or regions from the book into which your company might wish to expand. 

   Develop a 1-to 2-page table using either Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, or Excel that accurately compares your U.S.-based company’s ethics, based on classical ethical theory as well as its ethical stance on privacy, protection of intellectual property, and protection of PII to those within your country of choice. The column headings are “U.S.-based Company” and “Country of Choice.” The row headings are “Classical Ethical Theory,” “Privacy,” “Protection of Intellectual Property,” and “Protection of PII.”

   Create a PowerPoint presentation containing 8 to 10 slides for your corporate Board of Directors logically depicting at least 3 ethical challenges you might anticipate along with a policy statement for each. Include research concerning the country’s stance on issues, such as privacy, protection of intellectual property, corruption index, major religions, or indigenous tribal groups in the speaker notes.

   Include supportive graphics and appropriate backgrounds and styles. All references need to adhere to APA guidelines, and images should not be copied unless you obtain author permission or use copyright-free images.

   Note: You may use other applications like Adobe® Spark®,, Microsoft® Sway®, or Mix instead of PowerPoint.
