Module’s First Post:

Compare and contrast the ideas on HRM of the future that you have learned about with what you know of HRM today. For example, bring in Ulrich’s description and provide additional comments about Lawler’s vision that you have not contributed yet in previous discussions. You may also bring in other futuristic viewpoints. Be sure to provide your own ideas on changes expected. Do you think the world of work and HR’s role in it, will be vastly different in 2030? Explain.

Support your post with additional information from at least two reputable sources (library and/or Web-based). Cite your sources.

Write at least a three-page analysis using the case study on pages 343-344 of your textbook: “Expatriate Management at AstraZeneca PLC.”

Your analysis should address the prompts listed below.

• Critically analyze AstraZeneca’s expatriate management practices.
• Surveys show that most expatriates report feeling the strain of managing the demands of work and home while adjusting to the foreign environment, leading to more anxieties at home and at the workplace. What steps can an organization take to mitigate this?
• What decisions related to expatriates can organizations take to maximize the benefits to the company despite the economic downturn? Do you think a company that paid more careful attention to selection could further boost its chances of success?

Your case study analysis should follow APA guidelines for formatting all resources, both in-text citations and references. Your analysis should include a title page and a reference page.

 Read the two articles attached and complete an annotated bibliography for each article. 

 Annotated Bibliography’s should be ½ to ¾ pages long for each article.  It should be double-spaced, and you are to use Times new Roman 12 font. 

• APA Reference before the information; Annotated bibliographies must be written in manner, in which, they are understandable. You must describe all-important data such as: 

• The participants 

• The reason the study was conducted 

• What research design was used (surveys, interviews, case study, etc.)

 • Which research analysis was used (MANOVA, ANOVA etc.)

 • The results of the study along with any conclusions of the author(s) Your study must include all of these (if applicable). Your AB MAY NOT be copied and pasted directly from the source. There MUST NOT be any form of plagiarism in your annotated bibliography. You are required to write this assignment in your own words. 

1. What are the major strengths of job control unionism? The major weaknesses? Has job control unionism outlived its usefulness?
2. Full-fledged labor–management partnerships are rare. Why? In your answer, do not blame only labor unions. In other words, be sure to identify reasons why a variety of stakeholders (shareholders, managers, employees, and union leaders) might resist the formation of labor–management partnerships.
3. In a concise paragraph, paraphrase what you have learned about globalization to explain to a policymaker why globalization has profound implications for domestic employment issues. Based on these implications, should enforceable labor standards (a social clause) be added to free trade agreements? If so, what should the standards be and how should they be enforced?

Respond to classmate initial post. 275 words, 

First of all — DO NOT just write “yep, I agree” — that’s not helpful.

Be very careful with phrases that mean “I feel” — feelings are real, and usually based on something — so, when you start with “I feel” — continue with “because …..” Chances are pretty good that you’ll see the “I feel” part isn’t necessary.

When you say “I agree” — follow it up with a clause beginning with “because” — that will further explain your position.

Don’t shy away from conflict or objections in your responses — that’s what’s interesting.

I’m looking for your original thoughts — that means that I want to see what else you think on the topic. So, extend your ideas a bit — push the envelope, take risks, try out ideas that you don’t believe in. This also means that you can’t just copy and paste stuff.

Also, include references and citations. APA Format.

d. Consider Mitigation, Preparedness, Response & Recovery 

3. Must be written in APA format (in-text citations, reference, etc) 

4. Must be 1 to 2 pages in length (no more, no less)

5. Must use complete sentences, proper grammar, spelling etc
