Microsoft Excel – Tips and Tricks

Excel has more to it that meets the eye. At first glance it looks like a program to make charts, graphs, and other types of charts. One of the best features is its ability to use math formulas. This feature is helpful if you’re making any type of finance spreadsheet. With the right formulas, you can have Excel automatically add, subtract, multiply, divide, find the range, or just the sub total of any data entered in the cell(s). These formulas automatically update, so you can add data to your spreadsheet and know that it’s going to give you the right total(s) without you having to format it every time.

The fastest growing crime in the United States is identity theft. More than nine million people fall victim each year, with the unauthorized use of an existing credit card accounting for much of the problem. The National Crime Victimization Survey reports that household identity theft losses amount to more than $13 billion each year, and that figure does not account for the aggravation and time required to repair the accounts.

Download and read a document on Quality Data Model (QDM). Focus your reading on sections 1.1-1.5, and 2.1 – 2.8.

Tasks: Write a report that contains your answer to the following questions:

1. Why a quality data model is needed? Explain QDM’s importance in healthcare information system using examples you have seen or discussed in this Module’s required readings. (10 points)

2. Figure 1 in section 2.5 shows an example QDM element structure on the left. The diagram to the right is an example of QDM element called “Laboratory Test”. Suppose you are member of an interprofessional team working a quality health database project for a hospital. Explain how you would design a database table to store data containing in the ODM element “Laboratory Test”. For example, what is the name of this table? What are the columns to include in this table? (10 points)

3. Suppose the same database contains other tables describing ODM elements such as Doctor, Patient, Medication, Pharmacy, Pharmaceutical Company, etc. Describe ONE scenario where you can use this database to address questions related to QDM element “Laboratory Test”.  (40 points)

Develop a paper describing how the knowledge, skills, or theories of this course have been applied or could be applied, in a practical manner to your current work environment. If you are not currently working, share how you could leverage the knowledge gained working as an IT consultant working for an organization of your choice.

Requirements:  Provide a 500-word (2 or more pages double spaced not counting the title and reference pages) paper.  The paper should include a title page, body pages, and reference page.  An abstract and introduction is not required for this assignment.  Correct use of APA guidelines for sources and citations is required. If supporting evidence from outside resources is used those must be properly cited.

For this project, select an organization that has leveraged Cloud Computing technologies in an attempt to improve profitability or to give them a competitive advantage. Research the organization to understand the challenges that they faced and how they intended to use Cloud Computing to overcome their challenges. The paper should include the following sections each called out with a section header with proper APA formatting:

· Company Overview: The section should include the company name, the industry they are in and a general overview of the organization.

· Challenges: Discuss the challenges the organization had that limited their profitability and/or competitiveness and how they planned to leverage Cloud Computing to overcome their challenges.

· Solution: Describe the organization’s Cloud Computing implementation and the benefits they realized from the implementation. What was the result of implementing Cloud Computing? Did they meet their objectives for fall short?

· Recommendations: What recommendations would you provide to this organization to better accomplish the challenge(s)? This is from your opinion not someone else on the Internet.

· Conclusion: Summarize the most important ideas from the paper and also make recommendations or how they might have achieved even greater success.

Requirements:

The paper must adhere to APA guidelines including Title and Reference pages. There should be at least six (6) scholarly sources listed on the reference page (with in-text citations). Each source should be cited in the body of the paper to give credit where due. Per APA, the paper should use a 12-point Time New Roman font, should be double spaced throughout, and the first sentence of each paragraph should be indented .5 inches. The body of the paper should be 2000 words in length. The Title, Abstract, Table of Contents (if applicable), and Reference pages do not count towards the page count requirements. All references must be scholarly references (NOT WIKIPEDIA). Use one of the methods provided in residency for researching scholarly journals and websites.

Grammar/Spelling/Citation: Make sure all work is grammatically correct, spelling is 100% accurate, and cite all sources in-text/at the end of the paper where applicable. 

Technical Connection: Make the paper relevant to the course and its connection with your current classwork. Discuss how what you have learned can be applied to your work or future work. 

Word Count: The minimum word count is 500 words. 

Personal Connection – 4 Points: How does this course and the experiences you have been taught in  impact your personal work.

Technical Report-

Your report should consist of the following sections.

1. Cover Page: Include the course title, project title, submission date, and name.
2. Introduction: State the objective of the case studies, and provide some background information.
3. Network Design: Summarize the background for Case Study I. Provide a diagram of your network and the class diagram. Describe in detail the research/changes/suggestions.
4. Security Implementation: Summarize the background for Case Study II.  Discuss the strategies you proposed for securing your network as well as any added to the class network.
5. Hacking: Summarize the background for Case Study III. Discuss the methods you suggested to test the security strength of your network  (i.e., attempt to hack into your network) as well as any added to the class network.
6. Results and Discussion: Discuss overall results of the final network and any additional insights and information related to your findings.

Please write a post for the two documents with 150 words each substantive. A substantive post will do at least two of the following:

• Ask an interesting, thoughtful question pertaining to the topic
• Answer a question (in detail) posted by another student or the instructor
• Provide extensive additional information on the topic
• Explain, define, or analyze the topic in detail
• Share an applicable personal experience
• Provide an outside source (for example, an article from the UC Library) that applies to the topic, along with additional information about the topic or the source (please cite properly in APA)
• Make an argument concerning the topic.

At least one scholarly source should be used in the initial discussion thread. Be sure to use information from your readings and other sources from the UC Library. Use proper citations and references in your post.
