Create a Project Proposal

Assignment Content

  1. Important note: You must complete the Select a Business Plan assignment and get approval from your instructor for a business scenario before you begin this assignment.

The purpose of the project proposal is to describe a project (i.e., to describe how to automate or improve the automation of a specific business process) and then to explain how completing the project will positively affect the business.

Once a project proposal is accepted, project work can begin; therefore, a successful project proposal must include all of the information necessary for stakeholders to make a go/no-go decision, including a statement of scope, a list of the benefits you expect the proposed project to provide, and a rough estimate of how long it will take and how much it will cost to complete the project.

For this assignment, you will create a 3- to 4-page project proposal for the business scenario you selected earlier this week and that was approved by your instructor. For your project proposal, be sure to:

    • Complete the Project Proposal Template based on the business scenario you selected (and that was approved by your instructor) earlier this week. If you prefer, you may re-create the template using another software application of your choice, such as Microsoft Excel®.
    • Develop a project definition and scope that defines the project and articulates the business context for the project.
    • Identify problems that the proposed system is expected to solve (or opportunities the proposed project is expected to produce).
    • Create project objectives.
    • Create the project methodology or game plan.
    • Compile a high-level schedule for completing the project scope.
    • Refer to this week’s learning activities for help creating your project proposal.

      Submit your assignment.

Select ONE ARTICLE from the following links and summarize the reading in your own words. Your summary should be 2-3 paragraphs in length and uploaded as a WORD DOCUMENT. Click the link above to submit your work. There is an EXAMPLE attached to show you the format requirements.

What is most important is that you use YOUR OWN WORDS to summarize the news article. It is essential that you do not copy text directly from the Internet. Plagiarism is unacceptable. You can easily avoid this by rephrasing the contents and summarizing it using your own words.

Research Problem Proposals with Research Questions

Assignment Content

  1. STOP: (1) Have you watched the HW video on APA 7 Basics and Cover Page? (2) IF you were absent, have you watched the class recording? Do not continue to the assignment until these things are complete

    ASSIGNMENT
Step 1, Brainstorm: Think about your field of study as a master’s student. Use one of the two methods taught in class and find two news articles that report on relevant problems related to the industry associated with your master’s degree program (think about scandals within the last 5 years). Come up with two examples using the format below in a simple Word document, using APA 7 Basics and an APA 7 cover page learned through the HW video (see p. 20 in Foundations for a sample cover page)

Step 2, Create your Word Document and Answer Questions (it should look similar to p. 5 in Foundations):

FOR EXAMPLE: If my major is public health or even education, I would come up with something like Issue/Problem 1 below (MPH students, you cannot use this as your own). We have started one together in class, so you must complete what you started in class and find a second research problem proposal:

Issue/Problem 1: Depression and anxiety among young adults
    1) People Involved: College students, parents
    2) Link to Article: https://www.mayoclinichealthsystem.org/hometown-health/speaking-of-health/college-students-and-depression
    3) My Research Question: What have researchers learned about the impact of COVID 19 on depression and anxiety among young adult students?

I would then fill out my second Problem proposal below:

    Issue/Problem 2:
    1) People Involved:
    2) Link to Article:
    3) My Research Question: What have researchers learned about

    Grading:
    Cover/Title Page = 40 pts
    Issue/Problem 1 = 30 pts
    Issue/Problem 2 = 30 pts

Strategic Plan

Strategic IT Planning:  Your 3-Step Process

Introduction

Strategic IT Planning is required to ensure your resources and assets continue providing the results and the support your organization needs.

What is a Strategic Plan?

It is a roadmap to achieving a goal. It may cover your entire department or responsibility or it may focus on a specific issue or element of your role. It can be long and involved or a simply one-page document that provides guidance and steps you need to implement to achieve a goal.

Making it Happen

There are a few things that are important to your success. While it may seem that developing the Strategic Plan is the hardest part, most plans fail because of the implementation. The key is to keep it small and be successful, then build on that success for the next initiative. Don’t bite off too much or try to be too ambitious.

•  Take your time and keep it manageable

•  Link your plan to your company’s strategy

•  Justify your initiative and get buy-in and support

•  Don’t re-invent, rebuild

•  Go slow, manage change

•  Set aside time from your operational responsibilities to make it happen

Without a Strategic Plan, you and your team won’t be effective and you won’t be able to get results, get attention and get ahead.

Why you need an IT Strategy:

Redirect from tasks to opportunities and result

•  Switch from fighting fires to preventing fires

•  Reduce risk with planning and a longer view

Most Strategic Plans never get written or they fail because they are too involved and complex. Keep them simple and use these three basic steps as your core approach. Ask yourself these questions:

1.  Why do you need to do it? What is your goal?

2.  What are the things you need to get done to achieve your goal?

3.   How can you make those things happen?

By following the 3 steps above and writing them down, you will have the outline of your Strategic IT Plan. Then, you establish the tactical things that will help you implement your plan.

Implementation Plan

Once you have established your strategic plan using the 3-step process, you need to develop your implementation plan. This includes getting approval and resources as well as the steps you need to take to achieve your strategic objective.

1.  Set the objective for each step

2.  Analyze internal/external factors

3.  Develop solutions

4.  Identify and eliminate barriers

5.  Allocate resources (people, time, money)

6.  Develop detailed tasks

7.  Implement your plan!

5/1 Devotional

The Bible contains truths that impact our lives every day. Grace is a common human trait that can be found in many worldviews. One of the most clear statements of God’s concern for man’s sinful heart is found in Proverbs 6:16–19, where we read:

There are six things that the Lord hates, seven that are an abomination to him: haughty eyes, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked plans, feet that make haste to run to evil, a false witness who breathes out lies, and one who sows discord among brothers. (English Standard Version)

Malicious plans and the evil plans of man God dislikes in no uncertain terms. In Mark 7:21–22 we again see God’s deep concern for the sin of humankind: “For from within, out of the heart of man, come evil thoughts, sexual immorality, theft, murder, adultery, coveting, wickedness, deceit, sensuality, envy, slander, pride, foolishness.” In the verses from Mark, we see just about every malicious issue that we observe on the internet. Apart from God’s grace of salvation from sin, we strive to provide a means of protecting those that use cyberspace.

  1. Be sure to address the following prompts in your paper:
    1. How would we apply God’s grace for the sin in our lives? What does God offer to deal with the sin in our lives?
    2. How does God’s love and redemption for our sin apply to policies and practices as a society?
    3. What are some ways we can model God’s love and redemption to policies and practices in the society within your cultural or religious background?
  2. Your paper should be at least 250 words in length.
