Project Description:

In this project, you will prepare a chemistry lab report, modifying and formatting an existing document that has been reviewed by your partner. You will also add data tables relevant to the experiment being described.

Start   Word. Download and open the file named Exp19_DSP_Word_Science.docx. Grader has automatically added   your last name to the beginning of the filename.

Ensure that formatting marks are   displayed. Reply to the comment on page 4, typing I will add the conclusions we mentioned   yesterday. (Include   the period.)

Place the insertion point at the   beginning of the document. Add Leslie Pangle after Name,   Dr. Charles Cooper after Lab Partner, and October 18, 2021 after Date.

Adjust the left and right   margins to 1″. Insert an unedited footer and insert a page number at the   Bottom of the page using Plain Number 2 selection, or another page number   entry if that style is unavailable. Close the footer.

Select the entire document and   change the font to Times New Roman, with a font size of 12 pt. Center align   the title (Analysis of Iron in a   Vitamin Pill) and change the font size to 14 pt.

Right align the information   above the title of the paper beginning with Name: and ending with Date:.   Change the line spacing of those lines to single.

Apply the Subtitle style to all of the headings (Abstract, Introduction, Materials, Procedure, Results, Conclusion,   and References). Modify the   Subtitle style to apply Italic formatting and a font size of 12 pt.

Select the list of materials on   page 2, beginning with Spectrophotometer   and ending with Vitamin tablet,   and convert it to a bulleted list using the default bullet selection. Format   the list in two columns.

Draw a text box just below the   list of materials and type Dilution Equation (M1V1 = M2V2). Apply subscript to the numbers in the equation.

Format the text in the text box   to Times New Roman 12 pt.. Remove the outline from the text box and change   the height to 0.3″ and the width to 2.5″.

Change the text wrapping to   Square and apply Align Center alignment to the textbox.

Insert a blank line after the   first body paragraph in the Procedure   section, ending in rinse them out   thoroughly. Insert a table with five columns and six rows at the location   of the blank paragraph.

Merge all cells on the first row   and type Preparation of Standards Solutions. (Do not include the period.)

Enter the following headings and   data, beginning on row 2. Several titles may automatically wrap within cells.

Solution mL Stock Iron Solution Drops of Citrate mL Hydroquinone mL Phenanthroline
 1 1 6 1 1.5
 2 2 12 1  1.5
 3 3 18 1 1.5
 4 5 30 1  1.5

Insert a row below the headings   on row 2, type Blank as the Solution type, and then complete the rest of the row with   the following data:

Blank  0  0   0   1.5

Change the line spacing of row 2   to Single. Change the height of row 2 to 0.4″.

Format the table using the Grid   Table 1 Light table style. Deselect the First Column checkbox on the Table   Design tab so the first column is not formatted. Center align all cells.

Add a footnote following the mL Stock Iron Solution heading. The   footnote should read Stock iron   solution provided by instructor. (Do not type the period.)

Move to the table on page 4 and   insert a new row above the first row in the table. Type Table 1:   Calibration Curve Data Table. Merge all cells in the first row and apply Align Top Center   alignment.

Format the table to AutoFit   Window and apply the Grid Table 1 Light table style. Deselect the First   Column checkbox on the Table Design tab so the first column is not formatted.

Select the four paragraphs that   follow the paragraph that begins This   table summarizes the results. Convert the selected text to a table with   four columns and four rows.

Insert a new column to the right   of the last column in the new table. Click in the last cell of the first row   and create a formula to average the two trial amounts for the Absorbance of   the Iron Tablet Solution. The formula should average all cells to the left.   You do not need to assign a number format. Similarly, enter a formula in   remaining cells in the last column to average the Mass Fe of Tablet, Mass of   Iron in Tablet, and Percent Error.

Insert a new row above the first   row in the table containing averages. Type Table 2: Iron Tablet Data, merge all cells in the first   row, and apply Align Center alignment.

Center rows 2 through 5 of Table   2. Format the table using Grid Table 1 Light table style.

Using Manage Sources on the   References tab, add a new source using the APA style for a journal article:
  Author: Atkins, Robert C.
  Title: Colorimetric   Determination of Iron in Vitamin Supplement Tablets: A
General   Chemistry Experiment
  Journal Name: Journal of Chemical Education
  Year: 2005
  Page: 550

Insert a page break before References on page 4. Place the   insertion point on the blank line after References. Click Bibliography and select Insert Bibliography to insert   the source (or select another option if that one is unavailable).

Click after the words Preparation of Standards Solutions in   the first row of the table of the same name on page 3. Press SPACEBAR and   insert a solid round bullet symbol located in the Symbol font group. The   character code is 183. Press SPACEBAR after inserting the symbol and type Analysis of   Variables.

Place the insertion point on the   blank paragraph under Conclusion on   page 4. Type the following paragraph, pressing ENTER after typing the   paragraph.

The   vitamin tablet was tested twice, and the results were in an acceptable   percent error range. Miscalculations in this experiment can be traced to the   difficulties in measuring the volume in the graduated cylinder and Erlenmeyer   flasks. With experience, technical variations may be overcome. Overall,   the vitamin tablet tested did come   close to the amounts claimed by the manufacturer.

Insert text from Conclusion.docx.

Check for spelling and   grammatical mistakes. Accept any corrections for grammatical mistakes related   to placement of commas and leaving a space after a parenthesis.

Select the word analyzed in the second paragraph of   the Conclusion section. Use the   Thesaurus to replace the selection with a synonym beginning with the letter   c.

Open document properties. Add   the keywords: Iron, Beer’s Law, Absorbance.

Save and close Exp19_DSP_Word_Science.docx. Exit   Word. Submit Exp19_DSP_Word_Science.docx   as directed

//My employer would like a program that calculates the cost of lumber for an order.

//The company sells pine, fir, cedar, maple, and oak. Lumber is priced by board feet (Square feet / 12).

//The price per board foot is: //Pine = 0.89 //Fir = 1.09 //Cedar = 2.26 //Maple = 4.50 //Oak = 3.10

//The lumber is sold in different dimensions, specified in width, height, and length, and needs to

//be converted into board feet. For example 2 x 4 x 8 piece of wood is equal to 5.333

//board feet ((2 x 4 x 8 ) / 12). An entry from the user will be in the form of a letter and

//four integer numbers. The letter will be one of P, F, C, M, O, corresponding to one the the five

//kinds of wood, or T meaning total. The four integers will be the number of pieces, width,

//height, and length. When the letter is T there are no integers following it on the line.

//The program should print out the price for each entry, and print the total after T is entered.

//An example: //Enter Item: P 10 2 4 8 //10 2x4x8 Pine, cost: $47.47 //Enter Item: M 1 1 12 8

//1 1x12x8 Maple, cost: $36.00 //Enter Item: T //Total Cost: $83.47

//The program should use a value-returning function. Do not use arrays. validate user entered values.

//please try to follow the basic layout / logic i have – function at the end of program, use a void function

//for results / other data if possible.
