3) Open the file Walburg Energy Alternatives, Enable Content and

perform the following:

a. Import the Excel file “Item” into the Database to create the Item Table.

b. Create a query for the Item Table. Include the Item Number, Description, Cost, Selling Price, and Vendor

Code in the query.  Save the query as Item

Query.

c. Open the Item Query and add a criterion to limit retrieval to Scryps

Distributors. Save the Query as Item-Scryps Query.

d. Create a simple form for the Item Table. Use the name, Item, for the form.

e. Create a query that includes the Item Number, Description, Cost and Vendor Code fields for all items

where the vendor code is JM. Save the query as Vendor JM.

f.  Create a query that includes the Item Number and Description fields for all items where the description

starts with the letters, En. Save the query as Item En.

g. Create a query that includes the Item Number and Description fields for all items with a cost less than

$4.00. Save the query as Less than 4.

h. Create a query that includes the Item Number, and Description fields for all items with a selling price

greater than $20.00. Save as Greater than 20.

i.  Create a query that includes all fields for all items with a vendor code of AS

and where the number on hand is fewer than 10. Save as query as AS less

than 10.

j.  Create a query that includes all fields for all items that have a selling price greater than $10.00 or a

vendor code of JM. Save query as JM greater 10.

k. Join the vendor table and the Item Table. Include the Vendor Code and Vendor Name fields from the

Vendor table and the Item Number, Description, On Hand, and Cost fields from the Item table. Sort the

records in ascending order by item number within vendor code. Save the query as

Vendor Sorted

2 Discussions and 1 Case Study and 1 Weekly summary

Discussion 5.1

Many organizations are concerned about the rising cost of employee benefits and question their value to the organization and to the employees.  In your opinion, what benefits are of greatest value to employees? To the organization? Why?  What can management do to increase the value to the organization of the benefits provided to employees?

Discussion 5.2

When OSHA was enacted in 1970, it was heralded as the most important new source of protection for the U.S. worker in the second half of the twentieth century. From the information in this chapter, what is your opinion about the effectiveness or the ineffectiveness of the act? Should it be expanded, or it should businesses have more freedom to determine safety standards for their workers?

Case Study 5.1 4 pages

There are two (2) case studies per chapter. You are to respond to one (1) case from Chapter 9 and one (1) case study from Chapter 10.

Exercise 1: Investigate pollution patterns with space-time analysis

Elevated levels of fine particulate matter pollution are associated with premature death and increased risk of cardiovascular and pulmonary disease and cost the global economy over 225 billion U.S. dollars in lost labor annually. The patterns of pollution are not uniform globally, and the pollution levels may be overreported in some locations but underreported in others.

In this lesson, you’ll explore global differences in pollution patterns in space and time to find areas with extreme or unusual pollution patterns. You’ll convert between different temporal data structures, apply space-time analysis to time series data, and use charts and 3D visualization to understand your results. Writing Requirements:
  • Include a report, 3–4 pages in length, in APA format (excluding cover page, abstract, and reference list)

Choosing a Methodology

Consider the differences between Agile and waterfall.

Select 1 methodology to use for a project plan for this initiative.

Create a simplified project plan such as the examples listed in the “Tips” section below. Include, at least, the following criteria: (the predecessor and notes are frequently missed)

Name of task

Duration

Predecessors

Notes

After completing your simplified project plan, write a 175-word paragraph and complete the following:

Define which methodology, Agile or waterfall, is most appropriate for this project. Why? Cite at least 2 sources to support your rationale.

Describe the following roles for this project: project manager, project sponsor, business analyst, and scrum master or program manager.

You may create your simplified project plan using Microsoft® Excel® or another software application of your choice.

Tips:

Research additional project plan examples online

Consider the application characteristics and requirements when building your project plan. For example, the app will require a search feature so employees can search for available programs, will require security to protect personal information, etc., which will help with the Work Breakdown Structure (WBS). Note: This information will be helpful in the Week 2 – Apply: Work Breakdown Structure assignment.

Read the 2 linked examples of project plans implemented as Microsoft® Excel® spreadsheets: Example Plan A and Example Plan B. Use these as guides in creating your own draft project plan (DO NOT SUBMIT THE SAME TASKS!). Notice the differences between these 2 examples in terms of length (overall and task length), the structure of the work breakdown (iterative vs. non-iterative), and methodology.

Submit your assignment – both your completed methodology questions and your project plan.
