Assignment 3

Assignment 3 Individual CS 120/121 Objectives: 1. Produce a persuasive research paper from the outline developed in Assignment 2 2. Create a Microsoft PowerPoint presentation to share your topic, findings and conclusion. In this assignment, you will use everything that you have created in Assignments 1 and 2 to produce a cohesive and well-written paper, which clearly conveys your research topic and supporting evidence to your readers. Your paper should include a detailed analysis of research found, including explanations of statistics and the methodology/techniques of studies that you include as support for your position. Final paper should include a visual aid that provides supplemental information (tables, charts, graphs, figures, etc). Explain how the visual you included helps support your position. In addition, you will be creating a PowerPoint presentation to share your research topic, position and supporting evidence with the class. Your slides should be readable, well designed to catch the audience’s attention, and include the main points of your research topic. Due date: Refer to Important dates document on Portal Infolit tutorial 7 must be completed prior to the submission of the individual portion (submission link may vary for different instructors). There may be a penalty for non-completion, so be sure to ask your professor about this in class. 1 Directions: 1. Start with the title of your paper. 2. Write your complete paper (you can use your full-sentence outline from A2 to guide you). • Include your thesis statement and introduction of your topic. • Include at least one object o An object can be a table, figure, graph or chart – with an explanation of how it is related to your research. 3. Create a bibliography for your sources using EndNote (in APA 7th edition format). All sources are created using EndNote. DO NOT copy and paste, must import from EndNote. 4. Include at least one properly formatted footnote in your paper. (Note: footnotes are not for citation – APA 7th follows in-text citation methods, but are for providing additional information. Example: You are citing the results of a research study in support of your position, a footnote can be used to provide background information on the study such as sample size, duration, any controls or variables, etc. that may help enhance your reader’s understanding of the methodology of the researchers who conducted the study) 5. Write student biography Include a photograph 6. Develop PowerPoint slides for your presentation Microsoft Word Document Requirements: • Name the document: o a3-ind-group-##-name.docx ▪ Replace ## with your group’s number ▪ Replace name with your name • Include o Your name o Professor’s name o CRN number o Group number • Write complete research paper – follow content requirements above and the formatting instructions below • Line spacing: single spaced • Margins: 1 inch all around • Paragraph style: justified • Font type: Times New Roman • Font size: 12pt • All sources are created and imported from EndNote • You should submit your individual draft through SafeAssign on Blackboard. Anthropology of Language and Communication

As we are learning, language changes over time as culture changes. After conducting a bit of your own research, please discuss some examples of English words that have disappeared or are no longer in fashion. Provide the definitions of the words, as well. What have they been replaced with today? Using the course resources this week, why do you think these words have been replaced or are no longer part of our common vernacular?

SE492 week 4

1. Using a project start time of 0 (or January 1) and a required project completion time of 180 days (or June 30), calculate the ES, EF, LS, and LF times and total slack for each activity. If your calculations result in a project schedule with negative total slack, revise the project scope, activity estimated durations, and/or sequence or dependent relationships among activities to arrive at an acceptable baseline schedule for completing the project within 180 days (or by June 30). Describe the revisions you made.

Responses could be presented in a network diagram or in the schedule table format. The project should finish in 180 days. If the original plan is not completed by 180 days, the responses should describe what tasks were revised to meet the required completion date.

2. Determine the critical path and identify the activities that make up the critical path.

Responses can be presented in a list of activity names, highlighted in the network diagram, or highlighted in the schedule table.

_____________________________________________

You are required to make at least two comments on the responses posted by your classmates with a minimum of 50 words. Make sure you design your response with your own words. Your responses to your classmates must be of substance; not just “I agree” or “Good Post.” The purpose of the responses is to convert the discussion forum into a quality academic environment through which you improve your knowledge and understanding. Read and review all assigned course materials and chapters before you start working on your assignments.

Paper Last- Planning Project

  1. Question 1
Your team has been asked to test and document enhancements to a web application that allows buyers to purchase custom-printed canvas shoes. The tasks and dependencies are as follows:

    • Create a testing plan
    • Once the testing plan is ready, your team can:

    • Test the database
    • Test the network
    • Write the documentation first draft
    • When the user interface tests are complete, you can:
    • Perform user testing—enlist some users to test the user interface
    • When the database and network testing are complete, you can:
    • Perform integration testing—network with the database
    • When the user testing of the user interface and the database testing are complete, you can:
    • Perform integration testing—database, network, and user interface
    • When all integration testing and user testing are complete, you can:
    • Perform system testing
    • Then you can:
    • Review and revise documentation
    • After all other tasks are complete, you can:
    • Obtain management approval
    • Duration estimates for the tasks:
       a. 3 days b. 10 days c. 6 days d. 7 days e. 20 days f. 5 days g. 3 days h. 2 days i. 8 days j. 4 daysk. 5 days
    1. Create a network diagram and a Gantt chart for the project tasks. Ask your instructor if you are permitted to use software such as Microsoft Project to help you prepare your diagrams.
      1. What is the planned duration for the testing project?
      2. What is the critical path for the testing project?
      3. For each task NOT on the critical path, calculate the amount of slack available.
      4. If the user testing of the user interface takes 15 days, what will the impact be on the project duration?

Discussion

Class,

From the humdrum of the mid-2000s web apps, Apple radically changed the mobile world with the iPhone, offering well-designed apps of their own and curating apps that were accepted into the App Store.  That influence has been far reaching, prompting Google to push their boundaries and develop material design, a design language that has become the distinctive hallmark of Android apps.  When compared to the web world where some popular apps could get away with mediocre design, why do mobile apps face a higher design bar?

  • When compared to the web world where some popular apps could get away with mediocre design, why do mobile apps face a higher design bar?
  • Compare and contrast native mobile app design versus standard desktop app design.  Discuss considerations for choosing one over the other.  Elaborate on main advantages vs disadvantages.
