This week, you will practice producing a screencast video presentation that allows you to report your progress on the final paper while also preparing you to build a quality final presentation for the course.

1. Build a three–slide PowerPoint (or Prezi) presentation that includes text and graphics. Outline your answers to the following questions:

  • What are some specific questions you have concerning the final argument paper?
  • What is your time–management plan for compiling and editing your final paper?
  • What parts of your final paper do you anticipate will take the most time and attention? For example:
    • Incorporating instructor feedback in your perspective papers
    • Reworking the perspective papers into one cohesive paper
    • Writing the introduction, conclusion, or abstract
    • APA formatting
    • Revising for grammar, spelling, and punctuation

Community DQ7

Read chapters 13 of the class textbook and review the PowerPoint presentations located in the PowerPoint folder. Once done work on the following case studies;

Case study Number 1

1. Annie was widowed when her son was 4 years old. She later remarried a man with a child 2 years younger than her own. The children now being 17 and 19 years old, respectively, Annie is preparing for her oldest son to leave for college in the fall. Suddenly, Annie’s father dies, and her mother has expressed the desire to move in with Annie. She explains that her income will be limited to her husband’s social security, and now that Annie will have additional room in her home, this will be a good situation for the whole family.

a. Using family systems theory, how would you define this family?

b. What would be the purpose of using a family mapping (ecomap) technique to descry

this family?

c. How would you describe the structure of this family?

Case Study Number 2

A community health nurse is visiting a family with a newborn child. This is the fourth baby for the family. All four children in the family are below the age of 5. Both sets of grandparents live in the same home. The community health nurse has to complete a family assessment, and recognizes that the significant event of the newborn can place the overall family health at risk. (Learning Objectives: 2, 3, 5)

a. The nurse has 15 minutes to complete a family assessment. What are ways that the nurse can acknowledge the family’s strengths?

b. What is the purpose of an ecogram of the family?

c. The community health nurse recognizes that four children below the age of 5 and two sets of grandparents residing in the same home can create alterations in routines. What is the aim of assessing rituals and routines for the family?

d. What is the nurse’s goal for family assessment when utilizing the Roy Adaptation Model?

Your implementation plan design will be the third section of your final project submission. The goal for this is to design a plan that will allow your intervention to be implemented in your target population and setting. You should be able to preserve the quality improvement outcomes that you designed for your target population and setting while also ensuring that the intervention does not put undue stress on the health care setting’s resources or violate any policies or regulations. Provide enough detail so that the faculty member assessing your implementation plan design will be able to provide substantive feedback that you will be able to incorporate into the final draft of your project.
At minimum, be sure to address the bullet points below, as they correspond to the grading criteria. You may also want to read the scoring guide and the Guiding Questions: Implementation Plan Design document (linked in the Resources) to better understand how each criterion will be assessed. In addition to the bullet points below, provide a brief introduction that refreshes the reader’s memory about your problem statement, as well as the setting and context for which this intervention plan was designed before launching into your implementation plan.
Reminder: these instructions are an outline. Your heading for this this section should be Management and Leadership and not Part 1: Management and Leadership.
    Part 1: Management and Leadership

    • Propose strategies for leading, managing, and implementing professional nursing practices to ensure interprofessional collaboration during the implementation of an intervention plan.
    • Analyze the implications of change associated with proposed strategies for improving the quality and experience of care while controlling costs.

Benchmark – Part A: Population Health Research and PICOT Statement

In this course, you will be complete a 2-part assignment in which you conduct research about a population of focus, develop a PICOT statement, and write a Literature Review. The PICOT statement and Literature Review you write in this course can be used for your evidence-based practice project in the next course so be sure to select an issue you want to continue working on in your next course.

PICOT (Population/Problem, Intervention, Comparison, Outcome, and Time to achieve the outcome) is a method that helps clarify the qualities needed to create a good question out of a practice issue or problem affecting the population of focus. Additionally, the information derived from a good PICOT makes it easier to perform a literature search in order to find translational research sources that can be used to address the clinical problem.

Use a national, state or local population health care database to research indicators of disparity. Choose a mortality/morbidity indicator to identify a clinical problem or issue that you want to explore pertaining to a population of focus. Use this indicator to begin to formulate a PICOT and conduct research on the population.

Write a 750-1,000-word paper that analyzes your research and focuses on the population you have chosen. Describe the population’s demographics and health concerns, and explain how nursing science, health determinants, and epidemiologic, genomic, and genetic data may impact population health management for the selected population. Provide an overview of a potential solution for solving the health issue related to your population and the intended PICOT statement. Describe how the solution incorporates health policies and goals that support health care equity for the population of focus.

You are required to cite three to five sources to complete this assignment. Sources must be published within the last 5 years and appropriate for the assignment criteria and nursing content.

Prepare this assignment according to the guidelines found in the APA Style Guide, located in the Student Success Center. An abstract is not required.

This assignment uses a rubric. Please review the rubric prior to beginning the assignment to become familiar with the expectations for successful completion.

Essay

Read the following vignette about a child with ADHD and answer each of the three questions at the end:

Scott is 8 years old. At 7 AM, his mother looks into Scott’s bedroom and sees Scott playing. “Scott, you know the rules: no playing before you are ready for school. Get dressed and come eat breakfast.” Although these rules for a school day have been set for the past 7 months, Scott always tests them. In about 10 minutes, he is still not in the kitchen. His mother checks his room and finds Scott on the floor, still in his pajamas, playing with miniature cars.

Ten minutes later, Scott bounds into the kitchen, still without socks and shoes, and hair tousled. “You forgot your socks, and your hair isn’t combed,” his mother reminds him. “Oh yeah. What’s for breakfast?” he says. “Scott, finish dressing first.” “Well, where are my shoes?” “By the back door where you left them.” This is the specially designated place where Scott is supposed to leave his shoes so he doesn’t forget.

Scott starts toward his shoes but spots his younger sister playing with blocks on the floor. He hurries to her. “Wow, Amy, watch this—I can make these blocks into a huge tower, all the way to the ceiling.” He grabs the blocks and begins to stack them higher and higher. “Scott makes a better tower than Amy,” he chants. Amy shrieks at this intrusion, but she is used to Scott grabbing things from her. The shriek brings their mother into the room. She notices Scott’s feet still do not have socks and shoes.

“Scott, get your socks and shoes on now and leave Amy alone!” “Where are my socks?” he asks. “Go to your room and get a clean pair of socks and brush your teeth and hair. Then come eat your breakfast or you’ll miss the bus.”

  1. What sort of problems would you expect Scott to have at school?
  2. What are some teachings you might provide for this parent?
  3. What interventions would give Scott the best chance of having positive outcomes?
