Discussion part one

It is not possible to define aging in the elderly solely by chronological criteria, since the functional, physical, mental and health conditions they present must be considered, since the aging process is individual, verifying that different biological conditions can be observed in individuals located in the same chronological age range. For example, in the cardiovascular system, when an elderly person is subjected to exertion, there is a decrease in the ability of the heart to increase the number and strength of the heartbeat. With aging there is also a reduction in the heart rate at rest, an increase in cholesterol and vascular resistance, with the consequent increase in blood pressure. Another time may be that arteriosclerosis is caused by normal changes in age, environmental influences, and genetic factors. In the autonomic nervous system there is a lower cardiovascular response to sympathetic and parasympathetic stimuli and a decrease in adrenergic content. As a result of these changes, the ejection phase and the relaxation phase increase, with reduced diastole, greater impedance to the left ventricular ejection, and decreased compliance (Health & Medicine Week, 2019).

I believe that it is important not to confuse aging factors with diseases that are not the cause of the same. One of them is Alzheimer’s, as this is a disease that can appear suddenly and although older adults are more likely to get it, this is not the main cause of it. Memory loss in the elderly does not presuppose normality, but, on the contrary, illness. As a result, it is important to allow the patient and his family to plan for the future in the face of total disability, providing support and monitoring in the aspects of judgment and safety so that the patient can continue independently and living in the community as much as possible (Mental Health Weekly Digest, 2016).

Purpose: To assist students in identifying areas to improve on in order to be academically successful, formulating strategies to implement and meet goals, and determining the effectiveness of the strategies (outcomes).

1. Write a 4-8 page paper on the goals to improve, the outcomes, and the effectiveness of the strategies that you implemented this semester (use the chart below to guide you. Address each area.). Use the literature to provide the evidence to support your strategies.
2. Create two (2) strategies for each provided “Goals to Improve” that you plan to implement this semester.
3. Evaluate the effectiveness (Outcomes) of each strategy you implement in meeting the goal of improving academically.
4. Include a minimum of three (3) current (≤ 5 years), peer-reviewed, nursing journal articles.
5. Your paper should be 4-8 pages, excluding title and reference pages. No abstract is needed. Current APA formatting is required.

King’s Conceptual System Theory

Write a 1250-1500 word APA paper addressing each of the following points. Be sure to completely answer all the questions for each bullet point. Steps

1. Open the Heart Rate Dataset in Excel
2. Sort the quantitative variables by class (e.g., Male at-rest heart rate and Female at-rest heart rate)
3. Use the Excel Data Analysis ToolPak* tools to calculate each of the following statistics:
   1. Mean of each quantitative variable
   2. Sample variance of each quantitative variable
   3. Sample standard deviation of each quantitative variable
4. Create a table in Excel that summarizes the statistics for each variable.
5. Transfer your summary results to Word.
6. Interpret what the mean and standard deviation specifically tell you about the heart rates of males and females in the sample.  Are the heart rates for males or females higher?  Which data is more spread out, and which is closest to the overall mean rate? Explain your responses.

The interpretation of research in health care is essential to decision making. By understanding research, health care providers can identify risk factors, trends, outcomes for treatment, health care costs and best practices. To be effective in evaluating and interpreting research, the reader must first understand how to interpret the findings. You will practice article analysis in Topics 2, 3, and 5.

For this assignment:

PROJECT GUIDELINES/RUBRIC

Project: research the role of a chosen environmental exposure/issue on human health. This project will take place in two parts:

PART I: The research paper will serve as the basis for part two of the project, which is developing a Public Service Announcement (PSA) for your chosen topic. 

Reflection: Think back to the week one discussion where you identified several environmental issues that you felt were a potential issue to you or loved ones. Or, consider environmental health issues that you may have heard about in the news.

 Environmental Impact on Disease

Relate the environmental impact or toxicant to your disease. Make the connection for how the issue is relevant to your audience. For example, if your topic is the role of pesticides on developing diabetes, provide the relevant research that connects pesticides and diabetes. Don’t forget to include contradictory studies. You should always present both pro and anti-research to strengthen your argument, but show any potential weaknesses in studies as applicable, to strengthen your argument.

In this section, consider all aspects of possible prevention from an individual, community, and population perspective. Consider policy and procedure, recommendations for how to reduce exposure, whatever is appropriate for your topic.
