Choose one of the following discussion question options and answer all questions related to it. 

Option 1: Describe the relationship between stress and health. Describe a stressful situation that you have experienced at work or personally. Provide one approach that would work best in that situation to reduce incidence of experiencing the stress, one psychological conditioning strategy to increase resistance to stress, and at least one way in which to manage stress overall.

Option 2: Read the following case scenario below and answer the following questions:

Mary is a 53-year-old female, recently divorced. The couple had one daughter together who now lives in another state. Most of her social network was related to her ex-husband’s family and friends. She lives in a rural area of Kentucky and has been feeling sad and isolated and presents to the clinic for an annual check-up.

Explain how social support affects mental and physical health.

How might this scenario affect Mary’s mental and physical health?

What screening tool might be utilized here? 

How might you respond to Mary and her situation to guide her in self-management of her health?

Review each case study and answer all questions with a scholarly response using APA style and include 2 scholarly references. ALL answers must be scholarly and be 3-4 sentences in length with rationale and explanation. 

All answers to case studies must have reference cited in text for each answer and minimum of 2 Scholarly References (Journals, books) (No websites)  per case Study.

Mental Health in the Community

Write a 1000-1500 word essay addressing each of the following points/questions. Be sure to completely answer all the questions for each bullet point. There should be three main sections, one for each bullet below. Separate each section in your paper with a clear heading that allows your professor to know which bullet you are addressing in that section of your paper. Support your ideas with at least three (3) sources using citations in your essay. Make sure to cite using the APA writing style for the essay. • Go to the Healthy People 2020 website and search for Mental Health and Mental Disorders. After reading the Overview section in Healthy People 2020 under Mental Health and Mental Disorders, pick and note the number and name of 2 objectives/goals from the list that you feel affect your community and explain why these were chosen. As a nurse, what can you do to help the community move towards this goal?
• Explain how physical health and mental health are correlated. What impact does each have on the other? Give at least one detailed example of how either a specific physical ailment leads to a breakdown in mental health or how a specific mental health disorder can lead to physical issues.
• Explain Trauma Informed Care in detail. How you can use Trauma Informed Care to assist a child who has been impacted by trauma?

Goal:

Analyze and evaluate a middle range theory.  You will select a middle range theory and identify application of nursing theories into clinical practice.

Content Requirements:

A 41-year-old obese male patient is diagnosed with congestive heart failure (CHF). He is told to begin a moderate exercise routine with a healthy diet and is prescribed several medications — including a diuretic.

1. Based on your knowledge of the kidney and the disease of CHF, what factors would be important in selecting a specific diuretic? How would you explain to this patient how it works?
2. If this patient developed a disease that caused the renal blood flow to be diminished, how might this impact the medication he is taking for his congestive heart failure? As his health care provider, how would you change his treatment in this situation?
