Family Interview – Compare and Contrast Cultures Paper

It is important to identify and understand your own family culture in order to be able to understand and respect other cultures. Interview a family member, and an individual from another culture with which you are unfamiliar. Some examples of an individual from another culture to consider for the assignment include a neighbor, coworker, patient, or friend. Please inform the individuals of the purpose of this assignment and make sure you receive their consent.

Interviews:

Review the “Family Interview ” template prior to the interview. Additional space is designated on the template for you to create three additional questions to ask both interviewees (family member and person from another culture). Additional questions should be relevant to the readings or discussion and should provide value to the interview by helping to understand culture.

Some of the questions may include:

  1. Family beliefs: Have they changed over generations?
  2. Educational and occupational status in the culture and in the family
  3. Communication methods: verbal and nonverbal
  4. Current family goals/priorities
  5. Family member roles and organizational systems
  6. Spiritual beliefs: current practice and death and dying
  7. Alternative lifestyles
  8. Work attitudes and structure

Written Paper:

Using the “Family Interview ” template, interview your designated family member and the person from another culture. Be sure to write your responses in a way that will assist you in writing your paper. After the interview is completed, write a paper of 750-1,000 words that includes the following:

  1. An introductory paragraph with the reasons for selecting the interviewees
  2. A summary of the responses from the interview template gathered from the interviewees
  3. A comparison and contrast of your findings between the two interviewees
  4. A reflective concluding paragraph on how family roles affect the cultural domains and relationships for each individual

Module 5 Case Study 3

Breastfeeding is a process in which the mother feeds the baby milk directly from the breast. Some factors need to be considered when breastfeeding and this includes the nutritional value of breast milk to the infant, the HIV status of the mother, history of certain medications among other things. When explaining this to the young mothers, the health promoter should educate them on the importance of breastmilk to the baby which includes the nutrients and the immune factors. When educating them, the nurse should also inform them of the importance of exclusive breastfeeding especially for those mothers who are HIV positive and are breastfeeding (Rouw, von Gartzen & Weissenborn, 2018). They also need to be informed of the effects of some drugs when breastfeeding and whether or not it should be stopped. To increase the duration and active participation of these clients the health promoter should consider a better teaching strategy since the clients may not be comfortable with the current learning style. A better learning style for this group could be a multimodal strategy (Yang et al., 2020). By having a combination of all these styles the students will have more information with an enjoyable session especially with the inclusion of videos showing how to breastfeed and to take care of the baby.

There is a relationship between culture and growth and development. Culture is simply the peoples’ way of life which may include what the consume and what they don’t. Therefore in a culture where there’s prohibited consumption of certain nutrients will cause a delayed milestone. It is important to assess children’s milestones irrespective of their culture (Clerk, 2020). This is because there is no difference in growth, all milestones are the same and this will help in the identification of any alterations in case there are any.

The teaching objective is to educate parents on how to prevent injury during infancy. These parents will learn through an interactive session of asking and answering questions and also by a demonstration of how this prevention will be done. The sessions will be three in a day each lasting for 2hours and a break of 1hour in between each session (Fujii, 2019). After each session, learners are supposed to answer some questions to gauge their understanding. After the program, the parents will be provided with guidelines on further care of infants.

Nursing and the aging family week 4 Part two student reply. Dianelis Pons

short answer

What is the prevalence of pain in older adults? How will you, as a nurse, be more aware of

pain issues related to older adults and what will the nurse incorporate into practice to alleviate these

issues?

The issue of the elderly has been presented as the most relevant emerging issue in recent times, especially if it is considered that this population has experienced a notable growth, in response to numerous factors, which have been combined to support a greater hope of lifetime. Social support is a determining factor for the development of the patient care process and has also been analyzed from the field in which it occurs, the affective, cognitive and behavioral level; where the dimensions or sources of emotional, material and informative support are distinguished. The affective plane corresponds to the dimension of emotional support; the behavioral level includes the dimension of tangible, material, or instrumental support, and the cognitive level includes the dimension of informational or strategic support (Health & Medicine, 2016).

The different practice strategies that can be implemented to alleviate any problem is to show the older adult that someone is available, through physical presence to show affection, affection, belonging, through hugs, invitations to walk, to walking around, sending cards, flowers, company in prayers, listening attentively; Other alternative ways of offering support are added such as the use of the internet, telephone calls, which try to alleviate uncertainty, anxiety, isolation and depression; depending on the contextual circumstances, verbal exchanges and physical contact are not always accepted, as there are people who are reluctant to openly express their thoughts and emotions (Rashedi, et. Al, 2017).

Compare and Contrast Benign Positional Vertigo and Meniere’s Disease

Compare and Contrast Assignment

Purpose

The purpose of this assignment is for learners to:

Improve their knowledge base and understanding of disease processes in Neurology

Have the opportunity to integrate knowledge and skills learned throughout all core courses in the FNP  track and previous clinical courses.

Demonstrate the ability to analyze the literature be able to perform an evidence-based review of disease presentation, diagnosis, and treatment.

Demonstrate professional communication and leadership, while advancing the education of peers.

Demonstrate the ability to take information from assigned readings and translate it into the way you would describe it to a patient or family member in your own words.

Activity Learning Outcomes

Through this discussion, the student will demonstrate the ability to:

  1. Interpret subjective and objective data to develop appropriate diagnoses and evidence-based management plans for patients and families with complex or multiple diagnoses across the lifespan. (CO 1)
  2. Develop management plans based on current scientific evidence and national guidelines. (CO 4),

Requirements:

For Week 1 of the course there is no case study given to you by the Faculty. Instead, you will be assigned two diseases to compare and contrast. This information will be posted in the Course Announcements under  Week 1 Welcome as well as the “Assignment” portion of the Week 1 module and will change every session.

A comparison and contrast assignment’s focus is to identify and explore similarities and differences between two similar diseases. The goal of this exploration is to bring about a better understanding of both diseases.

You will research the two areas of content assigned to you and compare and contrast them in a discussion post. NOTE: A comparison and contrast assignment is not about listing the info regarding each disease separately but rather looking at each disease side by side and discussing the similarities and differences given the categories below. Consider how each patient would actually present to the office. Paint a picture of how that patient would look, act, what story they would tell.   Consider how their history would affect their diagnosis, etc.  Evaluation of mastery is focused on the student’s ability to demonstrate a specific understanding of how the diagnoses differ and relate to one another. Address the following topics below in your own words:

  • Presentation
  • Pathophysiology
  • Assessment
  • Diagnosis
  • Treatment

Compare and contrast the following diagnoses as assigned:

Benign Positional Vertigo and Meniere’s Disease
