Personal Leadership Philosophies – 2 pages
Develop and submit a personal leadership philosophy that reflects what you think are characteristics of a good leader. Use the scholarly resources on leadership you selected to support your philosophy statement. Your personal leadership philosophy should include the following:
- A description of your core values
- A personal mission/vision statement
- An analysis of your CliftonStrengths Assessment summarizing the results of your profile
- A description of two key behaviors that you wish to strengthen
- A development plan that explains how you plan to improve upon the two key behaviors you selected and an explanation of how you plan to achieve your personal vision. Be specific and provide examples.
My Clifton Strengths Assessment Results are below:
My StrengthsFinder assessment went in this order from one through five. 1). Achiever is a person that take great satisfaction from being busy and productive, 2). Includer is a person that shows awareness of those who feel left out and try to include them, 3). Consistency they try to treat people the same by setting up clear rules and adhering to them, 4). Positivity these people are upbeat and can get others excited about what they are going to do, and 5). Self-Assurance are people that can manage their own lives and possess an inner compass that gives them confidence that their decisions are right.
Two core values that I would like to work on is positivity and innovation. The reason I would like to change my positivity is because sometimes I’m not always positive about certain situations until I can see the bigger picture. Innovation is another thing I would like to work on because I have ideas but sometimes never really follow up through with those ideas. Simple opportunities for improvement present themselves if we just maintain an open mind (Paige, 2016).
Two strengths that I would like to make stronger is the self-assurance and this is because I do doubt myself a lot even though it maybe something that I’m sure about. The other that I would love to strengthen is the relationship builder because I can really be bossy at time when I’m in a relationship. Nurses with high self-efficacy are more engaged in interprofessional collaboration (Costanzo et al., 2019).
Two characteristics that I would like to improve on is to have more patience with my co-workers because I tend to not have a lot of patience when it comes to dealing with situations that I think is unnecessary. The other one that I know I need to improve is being more approachable and that may sometimes have to do with my facial expressions that people think that I’m not approachable. Being your best self means playing to your strengths at work and everywhere else (Gallup, 2019)

Write Short Essay: 3-page essay clearly defining your own professional code of ethics: this means your actual code of ethics that you actually live out, not an idealized, abstract code of ethics in general. Make at least 2 direct quotations of Chapter 2 in The Nature of Suffering and the Goals of Nursing; and 3 direct quotation references to the Code of Ethics for Nurses (2015), noting examples of how your actual practice of ethical decision making differs from, or exemplifies (or both if you can) the official Code. And give at least one specific story example from your work in health care (or your life experience) where your stance was challenged, or formed, or affirmed (or some combo of challenged, formed, and affirmed).

Your patient has a personal health record … now waht
Case Study: A 65-year-old woman was just been diagnosed with Stage 3 non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. She was informed of this diagnosis in her primary care physician’s office. She leaves her physician’s office and goes home to review all of her tests and lab results with her family. She goes home and logs into her PHR. She is only able to pull up a portion of her test results. She calls her physician’s office with this concern. The office staff discussed that she had part of her lab work completed at a lab not connected to the organization, part was completed at the emergency room, and part was completed in the lab that is part of the doctor’s office organization.
The above scenario might be a scenario that you have commonly worked with in clinical practice. For many reasons, patients often receive healthcare from multiple organizations that might have different systems.
As you review this scenario, reflect and answer these questions for this discussion.
- What are the pros and cons of the situation in the case study?
- What safeguards are included in patient portals and PHRs to help patients and healthcare professionals ensure safety?
- Do you agree or disagree with the way that a patient obtains Personal Health Records (PHRs)?
- What are challenges for patients that do not have access to all of the PHRs? Remember, only portions of the EHRs are typically included in the PHRs.

The patient manifests symptoms of persistent depressive disorder and child neglect. In persistent depressive disorder, he exhibits signs of low self-esteem, low energy levels, problems with sleep onset and no motivation for participating in social activities such as his school band. This could be caused by parental neglect after their parents divorced when he was five years old, and there was minimal contact between him and his father.
The appropriate group therapeutic procedures would be meeting with the patient on a weekly basis for a period of fifteen weeks for one hour. A therapist leads the group. In the group, the patient is educated on the symptoms of persistent depressive disorder and the consequences of this disorder (Hellerstein et al., 2001). He is also educated on the benefits and disadvantages of medical treatment. The patient will be encouraged to work actively to confront the symptoms in the early stages of medication. Group therapy will help the patient to develop a sense of control and build on ways of connecting with people. It will help address interpersonal issues such as low self-esteem. Group therapy will help the patient to observe other patients and help them develop more open communication patterns. It will help the patient to address pessimistic thoughts (Hellerstein et al., 2001). The patient will be aware of the inconsistencies in his thoughts, behaviors and feelings and will build on ways of addressing these issues. He will gain an understanding of how to regulate his emotions and his relationship.
There are several ethical issues that clinicians should be aware of when they are counseling children. Counselors face several challenges relating to child treatment which include confidentiality and informed consent. For most counseling issues, the parents have a legal right to know what happens during the child’s counseling sessions, but the degree varies in different regions. Ethically, minors should be granted the same degree of confidentiality that is granted to adults (Sori & Hecker, 2015). The setting of where counseling occurs influences the level of privacy given. For example, a school counselor does not have to disclose information to parents about the counseling session with their child. In some cases where have to access to the records, the providers can regulate what is divulged to the parents especially if the information contained may be harmful to the child if disclosed (Sori & Hecker, 2015).
Counselors need to be aware of informed consent to treat adolescents and minors. Minors and adolescents may contract for counseling through parent consent or through a court order. However, in some countries, minors and adolescents have the right to informed consent without their parents’ consent (Sori & Hecker, 2015). While there are no laws that require counselors to get written permission from parents for their child to receive counseling, obtaining consent from parents is a good practice that counselors uphold unless there is any existing harm towards the minor (Sori & Hecker, 2015).
There is a lot to consider when counseling children to avoid the numerous potential problems that could result in legal and ethical problems. Minors and adolescents have fewer rights apart from those bestowed on them by the country, and counselors should work towards protecting the counseling relationship. Counselors should review their code of ethics and ethical regulations by getting a continuous education on ethical and legal issues.

short answers.
Through the decades, nursing has ceased being an action driven by maternal instinct and charity to some profession based on research and science. But due to the shortage of info about the immense progress of ours in the technical and scientific foundations of care, research, education as well as the positioning of ours as autonomous discipline and a profession. Obviously, the distortion which has transpired in the image that the press projects the myth that is present about it’s reasonable (Summers, & Broome, 2019). These prefabricated pictures bolster the prejudices as well as beliefs of the person regarding the items, community institutions and classes of the environment of his. It’s essential to recall that stereotypes in nursing are tools of sexual, social, discriminatory and economic inequality which, in the situation of nursing, help succeeding less attractive to people that are young selecting a career. Nursing on the whole is related with females, and also the perspective of any part of modern society recreates a picture of nurses which range from seeing them as “saints” or maybe “guardian angels” to females of “light life”.” But seldom as competent workers performing a task (Figure five), we’ve a picture marked by complete sex and definitely regardless of the good accomplishments attained during the last 30 years (Summers, & Broome, 2019).
The Nursing Advocacy Center seeks to better understand the public ‘s front-line and central job of nurses in contemporary health care. The Centre’s aim is promoting much more precise, frequent and balanced representations of nurses’ press and also in order to boost the media use of nurses as special resources. The Centre’s main objective is fostering the development of the dimensions as well as variety of the nursing career in a period of vital shortage, strengthen nursing train, research and teaching, and also enhance the system (Summers, & Broome, 2019). We’ve to express to the reality. The media are able to change the image of ours as what individuals see influences what they believe, and the things they believe influences what they actually do. It is not simply an observation of exactly how humans behave. It’s an essential principle of training, art, advertising or even some additional organized work to affect individuals. Marketing, for instance, could impact behaviour when individuals get channels of persuasive and partial info on subjects exactly where they might not have lots previous knowledge or experience. Study indicates that people that are young are especially vulnerable to the effect of such media, though nobody is immune (Perna, Varriale, & Ferrara, 2019). That is the reason major companies spend millions on marketing strategies to market the products of theirs, and also exactly why effective political advertisements are able to shift poll numbers and also impact election outcomes. There’s no reason at all to think this standard idea wouldn’t use to health problems. Actually, recently, there continues to be a consensus in the spot of public health, dependent on research that is considerable, that what individuals find out in the press carries a tremendous impact on the views of theirs and behaviours regarding overall health. A number of public businesses, private groups and academics now are devoting extensive assets on the evaluation as well as management of overall health messages in the press.
Every nurse carries a duty to the career to enhance the picture of the nurse in the eyes of the public whether at the office or even in public. The nurse’s public opinion influences recruitment for the career. Additionally, it influences the political agendas which ascertain how and where public funds are allocated. There’s a worldwide shortage of nurses, and also worries about declining aging and recruitment for the career. Until recently, nursing was among the several field which were conveniently accessible to females (Perna, Varriale, & Ferrara, 2019). Nowadays, they’ve a multitude of career choices, which includes in places which were at one time solely male domains. With time, it’s primarily females that look after the vulnerable and sick, which is the reason why nursing has created as a female dominated profession. Added to this’s the point that, in the cultural context, females have been regarded as the most fragile and most servile sex for males. Even though we have seen changes that are many in the condition of females in the latest past, it’s questionable whether detailed gender equality continues to be achieved anywhere. These cultural factors have contributed to the stereotypical view of nurses like the Doctor’s handman, the ministry angel, the sex kitten or maybe the fight axe matron (spinster) (Dhandapani, & Gopichandran, 2019). Take a look at and also act like an experienced individual twenty four hours one day, anywhere you’re, you perform as a role model of who as well as who’s a nurse. The primary motivator of profession for many nursing staff is program rather compared to cash or maybe prestige and power. This’s precisely why nursing staff are moving out and are unaware of the demand for the press to market the career. For the general public to recognize the indispensable and primary job of nurses in the area, it’s essential showing who she’s and also what she’s performing.
Nurses anywhere must aid carry nurses and nursing to the public eye with the press. Societies and nursing associations undertake this particular process in the regional and national levels, but every nurse is able to add on social networking and also via neighborhood newspapers. Events and share nursing achievements affecting nurses , like recruitment or maybe wellness strategies, on social networking. This could be discussed not just along with fellow nurses, but additionally the place that the general public is able to observe it (Dhandapani, & Gopichandran, 2019). Speak to your school ‘s public relations department and get them to make sure that nurses are included on the company’s site, in press releases and in media interviews. Construct relationships with neighborhood papers and get them to profile neighborhood nursing staff and post content articles on nurses’ achievements. Invite them to cover activities including graduation ceremonies as well as awards. Television and radio stations might be invited including interviews with nurses on wellness as well as info panels. Additionally, discuss when nursing staff are shown in an stereotypical offensive way in, for instance, Tv shows or even in advertisements. Due to the education of theirs, exposure and background to community problems, nurses are able to serve efficiently on several platforms and be leaders in the communities of theirs (Dhandapani, & Gopichandran, 2019). The participation of nurses in this level displays them as worried and skilled people and also increases the public image of nursing. Taking part in community activities likewise contributes to the own professional development of yours.

MHD421 Module 1 Discussion
The WHO has published an important document titled, “Social Determinants of Health—The Solid Facts.” It states:
Even in the most affluent countries, people who are less well off have substantially shorter life expectancies and more illnesses than the rich. Not only are these differences in health an important social injustice, they have also drawn scientific attention to some of the most powerful determinants of health standards in modern societies. They have led in particular to a growing understanding of the remarkable sensitivity of health to the social environment and to what have become known as the social determinants of health.
