“Evidence-informed decision-making (EIDM) involves the incorporation of the best available evidence from a systematically collected, appraised, and analyzed body of knowledge” (Liebowitz, Schieber, and Andreadis, 2010). Academic libraries are argued to be considered knowledge management tools.

Tasks:

Using the South University Online Library or the Internet, research healthcare IT and their standards. Based on your research on a current Public Health issue and understanding, respond to the following:

• Defend and argue your position on the role that academic libraries such as South University Online Library play as Knowledge Management Tools.
• Identify and describe the desired results of your library research on a current public health issue.
• Assess the process and identify the gaps in the key terms used to find the desired data and information.

Implementation of New Systems

Recorded presentation between 7 and 12 minutes in length. The presentation should include a PowerPoint and oral presentation of the slides. There is no slide number requirement. Answer all questions thoroughly with the allotted time. PowerPoint allows you to record directly to each slide. Be sure to include a title slide, objective slide, content slides, reference slide in APA format. Use the appropriate APA style in-text citations and references for all resources utilized to answer the questions. Include at least three (3) scholarly sources using APA citations to support your claims. This assignment uses a rubric for scoring. Please review it as part of your assignment preparation and again prior to submission to ensure you have addressed its criteria at the highest level. Use a recording platform of your choice and either upload as an mp4 or share the link directly to the video in the dropbox.

You are a project manager assigned to implementing a new computer system in an organization

• Why is it important to understand usability, configurability, and interoperability? Should these concepts out way the underlining cost of the new system? Which system do you recommend and why?
• During phase one, you are selecting a team. What characteristics are important to consider when selecting a team?
• During phase two the following principle was discussed, “lead with culture, determining where the resistance is,” and then, engage all levels of employees (Sipes, 2019, p. 161). What does this principle mean to you and how can you implement this principle?

In this module we are learning about how stress and violence can impact families. I want you to take a moment to think about all that you have to be thankful for. Often we take for granted the resources that we have at our fingertips. Take a moment to think of the families that have been ripped apart by war, like those in the middle East or Africa or violent crime and corruption in Central America. These families are fleeing their homes that have been reduced to rubble with little to nothing. No promise of food or a warm, safe place to sleep at night, just hope that someone will help them find a safe place for their children to live.

Take a moment to put yourself in their shoes. What if your family was in this position? How would you feel? What would you do? I can only imagine the extreme amount of stress and hopelessness that these parents feel.

These crises have been turned in to political fodder as of late. Yes, we need to be vigilant about protecting ourselves, but we also need to think about our fellow mankind that just want the same things for their children that we do. We are all human, regardless of where we are born or where we live. 

The goal of this weeks DB is not to get in to a political debate, but rather to take the perspective of some of these families. What do they go through, and what do they have to do to escape? Lastly, I hope to encourage empathy. Remember, one of the overarching goals of this course is to build kind, caring communities. So, how would you feel if you were a refugee fleeing a war torn country, and what would you do?

For this module’s Discussion Board post I’d like you to look at the following websites. Read these pages:

 When you are done reading these websites you have a choice about what to post on. Pick one of these below.

1. Search for the story about an immigrant family from a war torn country. This does not have to be a peer reviewed article, but you do need to provide a proper APA citation and reference. The family doesn’t have to be from Syria. Read about the family or watch a video. Describe what you have learned in your post and what you feel could have been done to better help this family escape violence (include links or citations to your sources). Be sure to refer back to the course material for this week linking this topic with what you have learned from the readings (including a reference and citation) as well as a small personal reflection. Stress has a horrible impact on families and developing children, so linking the material should be easy.

2. Do an internet search for the criteria that families must meet seeking asylum/refugee status in a country other than their own. I’m hoping there is a wide representation of the globe here, so move out of your comfort zone and try not to pick the USA. Your source does not have to be peer reviewed, but I would highly suggest you search for government websites, not blogs. Find out what the immigration requirements are for these families in the country that you are researching and report back on them. Describe the process and resources for these families and the requirements they have to meet in order to immigrate to that country (include citations and references for your sources). Be sure to refer back to the course material for this week linking this topic with what you have learned from the readings (including a reference and citation) as well as a small personal reflection.

I want to reiterate that this is not to be a political exercise or argument. I simply want to provide you with an opportunity to take the perspective of others and become informed on the often extreme measures that one has to take to escape a place where their lives are being torn apart.

Evidence-Based Practice Guideline

Write a fully developed and detailed APA essay addressing each of the following points/questions. There is no required word count; be sure to completely answer all the questions for each question in detail. Separate each section in your paper with a clear heading that allows your professor to know which bullet you are addressing in that section of your paper. Sources are not required; however, if sources are used make sure to cite using the APA writing style for the essay and complete a reference page. The cover page is required. Review the rubric criteria for this assignment.

Utilize the databases identified in the text to locate an Evidence-Based Practice Guideline, related to your topic identified in Module 1. Perform a rapid critical appraisal of the Evidence-Based Guideline by answering the following questions in APA format. All questions should be answered in detail and explanations offered according to guideline content when applicable.

• Who were the guideline developers?
• Were the developers of the guideline representative of key stakeholders in this specialty (inter-disciplinary)?
• Who funded the guideline development?  
• Were any of the guideline developers funded researchers of the reviewed studies?
• Did the team have a valid development strategy?
• Was an explicit (how decisions were made), sensible, and impartial process used to identify, select, and combine evidence?
• Did its developers carry out comprehensive, reproducible literature review within the past 12 months of its publication/revision?
• Were all important options and outcomes considered?
• Is each recommendation in the guideline tagged by the level/strength of evidence upon which it is based and linked to the scientific evidence?
• Do the guidelines make explicit recommendations (reflecting value judgments about the outcomes)?
• Has the guideline been subjected to peer review and testing?
• Is the intent of use provided (i.e. national, regional, local)?
• Are the recommendations clinically relevant?
• Will the recommendations help me in caring for my patients?
• Are the recommendations practical/feasible? Are resources (people and equipment) available?
• Are the recommendations a major variation from current practice? Can the outcomes be measured through standard care?

Be sure to include the database from which the guideline was obtained and please submit a copy of the guideline with your paper.

During assessment of the apical pulse,the nurse has the patient supine. They locate the apical impulse at the 6th intercostal space near the axilla area.
