Purpose of Assignment

The purpose of this assignment is to provide students an opportunity to apply communication theories and research to actual business situations. The discussion with other learning team members is designed to identify and consider different perspectives. 

Assignment Steps

Read Case 2: Global Shared Services, McDonald’s Corporation, located in Mastering Leadership. 

Discuss in your learning team the communications and group behavioral issues that might arise in an organization that hires employees for their first job.

Note: Each team member must write at least two substantive responses (with a minimum 350 words each) and submit them via the Assignment Files tab.

Note: Grades are awarded based upon individual contributions to the Learning Team assignment. Each Learning Team member receives a grade based on his/her contributions. Not all students may receive the same grade for the team assignment.

Homeland Security

  1. How does the creation of the Department of Homeland Security affect resources traditionally designated for local criminal justice organizations?
  2. Are there too few resources to fight both terrorists and traditional criminals?
  3. Who should pay the burden for investigating, apprehending, prosecuting, convicting, sentencing, and incarcerating terrorists?
  4. Should Osama Bin Laden have been taken alive?
  5. What are the due process protection questions in light of the creation of the Department of Homeland Security?

READING In Folklore

 

This assignment focuses on gender roles characterized in fairy tales, folktales, myths, and legends. Discuss the role gender has played with the characters found in folklore using at least three stories to support your conclusions. First ask yourself how males and females are typically portrayed in folklore. Is this representative of their culture? Using your three story examples, identify the hero/heroine and provide examples or details from the story that demonstrate how their gender is being represented. As our course draws to a close I hope we are starting to better see the sheer scope of ‘Outdoor Education’.  As we quickly and lightly scratched the surface of 10+ topics in the past few weeks I wanted to create a space for you to unpack and continue exploring any additional subject of your choosing.

Please choose one prompt below and answer in a text response.  200 Words Paper

· Explain the Advantages and Disadvantages of Social Media in relation to the field(s) of Outdoor Recreation/Education? (e.g. increased visitation/exposure v. increased incorrect usage of the space.) Optional- provide example photos as evidence to the pros and cons.

· Reflect on current representation of Outdoor Education and the Backcountry in film and television. Critically watch and analyze examples of film/series/etc and consider the impact they might have on their audiences. Read two articles and complete an annotated bibliography for each article (scholarly/peer-reviewed journal articles).

Annotated bibliographies must be written in manner, in which, they are understandable. You must describe all-important data such as:

• What research design was used (surveys, interviews, case study, etc.)

• Which research analysis was used (MANOVA, ANOVA, Kruskal Wallace, etc.) 

• The results of the study along with any conclusions of the author(s)
