grant writing discussion 1

When developing and implementing a grant proposal, the grantee must consider the project structure and four models for proposal development. Understanding this framework helps to fine tune the proposal and ensure that consideration has been given to selecting the appropriate resources required to carry out the project.

There are four models that can be used for proposal development and implementation: individual, consultative, cooperative, and collaborative. Working as an individual may be sufficient for smaller projects or a pilot. However, the consultative, cooperative, and collaborative models may be required to carry out more complex work. Each of these models involve careful consideration of the required level of resources, collaboration, and partnerships.

In preparation for this Discussion, consider the four models of proposal development as well as when each type of design is appropriate. Review this week’s Learning Resources that focuses on these models. Reflect upon the characteristics of persuasive writing learned in Module 2.

By Day 3 of Week 3

Post the following to the Discussion board:

  • In a 2- to 3-slide PowerPoint presentation with recorded voiceover, compare and contrast the four models of proposal development (individual, consultative, cooperative, and collaborative) and how each model would work in your grant-funded project. Persuade your classmates why your choice of one of these four models is most appropriately aligned with your proposed project.

Be sure to support your analysis and conclusions with citations and references in APA format from the Learning Resources and your own research.

Managing Risk

The gear revolution minimized many barriers of access to the Backcountry but did not eliminate the inherent risks involved in stepping outside.

This week we will explore risk matrices from Rick Curtis. Rick Curtis is a US Outdoor professional with Princeton University and a leading author and contributor to many fields of study within Outdoor Education. His Risk Assessment Safety Management (RASM) model provides an in-depth, collegiate level introduction and explanation of the phenomena of RISK and his model of identifying and interacting with RISK.

After you complete the reading and watching the clip, browse through the National Park Services list of ‘TEN ESSENTIALS’. https://www.nps.gov/articles/10essentials.htm (Links to an external site.)

The Ten Essentials represent the minimum equipment you should bring with you when you venture into the back country.

After connecting the Ten Essentials to RASM please answer the following questions in the discussion section of CANVAS under ‘Week 9- Managing Risk’

1- Explain Safety Factors.
2- What is Bailing out?
3- Explain the advantages of the RASM model.
4- Explain the disadvantages of the RASM model.
5- Explain why the TEN ESSENTIALS are so important and how they fit into RASM.

Marketing Manager

Step 1: Product Life Cycle

In the Marketing Analysis Presentation provided by your marketing team, you’ll see three different basketballs that need to be included in the product display on Slide 2. Each product has unique features.

·  Based on the information provided about the customers that shop at the store location on Slide 3, choose the basketball that you think will sell the most.

Underline your selection:

·  Basketball 1

·  Basketball 2

·  Basketball 3

Step 2: PLACE

On Slide 4 of the Marketing Analysis Presentation, you’ll see the results of a survey that asked potential buyers about where they are most likely to purchase these products.

·  On Slide 4 of the Marketing Analysis Presentation, you’ll see the results of a survey that asked potential buyers about where they are most likely to purchase these products. Underline your selection:

·  Traditional Stores

·  Online

Step 3: PROMOTION

Slide 5 of the Marketing Analysis Presentation shows three recommended advertisements, including a special deal promotion, for the product that is expected to sell the best.

·  Based on the information provided about the customers that shop at this store location on Slide 3, determine which promotional activity will sell the most product at this particular store. Underline your selection:

·  Promotion 1

·  Promotion 2

·  Promotion 3

Step 4: PRICE

Look at the pricing options available for each of the three products together on Slide 6.

·  Based on your knowledge of the Pricing Strategies discussed on pages 186-187 in the textbook, choose the option that has the best pricing mix for all three products. Refer to the customer information on Slide 3, if needed. Underline your selection:

·  Pricing Mix 1

·  Pricing Mix 2

·  Pricing Mix 3

Step 5: BRAND & SALES PITCH

The company that makes one of the basketballs is looking to rebrand the product. They have asked for your input on possible brands ideas.

·  First, read the Brand Vision statement which summarizes the goal for the new brand. Then, look at the logo, name, and tagline recommendations. Which of the two brand directions do you think best meets the goals of the brand vision? Underline your selection:

·  Brand Direction 1

·  Brand Direction 2

Second, write a 2-3 sentence sales pitch that you would use to try to convince someone to purchase this product

Step 6: MARKET SEGMENTATION

The marketing plan for the basketballs at the Brooklyn store has been in place now for four months, and the marketing team has assembled a report reviewing sales data and customer feedback for the last quarter’s basketball sales. Overall, the results are lower than you expected and you are concerned that your marketing and creative staff have not properly segmented your target customers.

Remember, like many products in the marketplace, the basketball’s marketing campaigns must target two different groups of customers: (1) adults who purchase the item as a gift and, therefore, do not actually use the product; and (2) adults and teenagers who purchase the item for their own use and enjoyment. Both groups have different reasons and expectations surrounding the item in question, and those reasons and expectations will have significant impacts on the buyers’ purchasing decisions.

Review the five customer segments detailed on pages 194-195 of your textbook: Behavioral, Sociographic, Psychographic, Geographic and Demographic. Select one focus area of each segment that you feel is most relevant to the sale of basketballs at this store location.

Keeping in mind the 4 P’s, write 1-2 questions for each focus area that will guide your staff as they investigate these aspects of your campaign.

Example:

Segment: Geographic

Focus Area: Neighborhood

Questions: What combination of marketing and media channels did we use to reach current and potential customers? How are we gathering information on where current customers live who purchased a basketball?

Can someone do my Week 3 work for me Discussion 1 & 2 and Week 3 Assignment in Organizational Behavior?

Discussion 1 Week 3

While surfing the Internet, you encounter this note posted in your favorite discussion group: “Help! I have just been assigned to head a new product design team at my company. The division manager has high expectations for the team and me, but I have been a technical design engineer for four years since graduating from college. I have never ‘managed’ anyone, let alone led a team. The manager keeps talking about her confidence that I will create a ‘high-performance team.’ Does anyone out there have any tips to help me master this challenge? Help! [signed] Pat.” As a good citizen of the Internet, you decide to answer. What message will you send out? Use and cite the course textbook in your initial post.

Discussion 2 Week 3

Why is it important to view leadership in a relational process and what traits have you found to be the associated with effective leadership? What has been your experience in leadership positions?  What worked well and what was not as effective?

Week 3 Assignment

Article Critique

Investigate professional journals and locate two articles pertaining to organizational behavior that are of interest to you. You are to critique each of the two articles according to the instructions below. The articles should be less than three years old. You are encouraged to use the ProQuest Database found in the Ashford Online Library.

Each one- to two- page critique (a total of two to four pages for both critiques) must include the following three parts:

  • Identification of the Article – Provide the reader with enough information about your article so he/she will be able to locate the article. Describe your search process.
  • Summary of the Article – List the main points that the author has tried to establish (i.e., 1, 2, 3 or first, second, third). There normally will be three to five main points. If you are summarizing a court case, you should discuss: What provision of the law was at issue? Briefly state the facts of the case. What legal tests were applied? Were there any unusual elements in the case?
  • Your Critique – Provide your reaction (insightful, critical, and logical) to the points that the author tried to make, or an overall critique of the entire article. A simple statement of agreement or disagreement is not sufficient. While you may make such a statement by way of introduction to your reaction, you must clearly and logically state the reasons for the position that you have taken.

The Article Critique

Include both article reviews into one document for submission to WayPoint (do not submit two documents).
